Question came up recently
If there was a company who made soft plastic, pre-painted minis that were relatively cheap (i.e. $1 USD-$2 a fig for 28mm, $1.25 USD or less for 15mm), carry the entire army in figs, at the same quality as the current WotC D&D line (dodgy at best), would you switch over from metals that you have to paint? Less painting, more playing for the sacrifice of metal/hard plastics and painting them yerself? 1) Yes I'd switch the whole army. 2) I'd switch for the regular troops, but not the command section. 3)You can pry my metal figs outta my cold dead hands |

Perhaps for some things, especially since I could start playing immediately with them. I'd still want to paint some of my own figs, but having the above would be great, e.g. like the old Star Wars Collectible Minis Games figs were. Great for being able to play a game immediately, and the painting is good enough for me. |

I might bite if the right kind of figures were available, though I would probably prefer metal or hard plastic and paint them myself. |

Maybe hard plastics but not soft plastic figs. |

Do you know something that you're not saying? |

I wouldn't mind soft plastics if they were given a decent paint job, however, what passes as "decent" isn't. So, 4) No, not at the current production quality (think AT-43, Confrontation, D&D Mini's, Star Wars Minis). |

No. I like to boogie with the dudes what I brang to the dance. I will play with anything that my friends want to use in THEIR games, but for MY games

I'd use anything on hand if the need arises, but since I'd never buy those miniatures, they wouldn't be available to me for use. No. |

Yes, though I'd prefer pre-painted hard plastics! |

No Unpainted plastics are OK
but pre-paints and/or soft plastic is not for me. |

I would buy them for "loaner" armies that my friends (or kids) could use if they didn't have an army. I do something similar for FoW with the Axis and Allies miniatures. But my army has to be painted by me. |

I would buy some if I did not already have a metal equivalent and it was not something I particularly wanted in metal. |

I already use these type of figures. Mostly from the bargain bin of the FLGS. However, it rarely saves me painting – they are mostly conversion fodder. That would likely count for a line of minis, not just random ones. I have painted up my red/blue HALO guys to include a green, khaki, and black team (and I reposition weapons for variety). I have hordes of 'Clix HYDRA, Police, and Thrangrians (hawkmen) that went through minor conversion and repaint for the sake of variety (also uniform mods for different factions, etc.). |

I already do (Micromachines Star Wars). |
