Recently I was in the market for some islands and icebergs for my Dystopian Wars and Man o War collections. While scanning eBay, I came across a couple of prefinished islands that were at a price I couldn't refuse to bid on them. Well, I won the auction and eagerly awaited their arrival as the pictures were so-so, but at that price, I really couldn't go wrong. The islands showed up in a week and were a very pleasant surprise. The vacuform plastic was highly detailed, the islands had been finished with a base coat and a layer or two of drybrushed paint, beaches and water painted and much of the island already flocked. All I had to do to incorporate them into my game setup was repaint the beaches with my preferred sand color and make the water match up to my table with a darker navy blue. 5 minutes later, they were ready for the tabletop. Also included in the box with the islands was a business card listing an e-mail address and THE PLASTIC GUYS WEBSITE. I went to the website and found a product listing showing they make Rocks, Redoubts, Craters, Islands, a Woodland Indian Village, Moon Base and even a Flying Saucer. The prices were very low so I figured they were unpainted plastic, but reading the description, the terrain comes pre-painted, flocked if necessary and ready for the table-top immediately. No way! So I placed an order for more Islands and a set of custom Icebergs that were to give me good variety for my games. Read more HERE |
