So we've had a whole string of polls on popular music artistes, many of whom I've never listened to and have no intention of becoming aquainted with. So why not have a poll on one of the most performed 'Classical' composer. I know, technically Mahler is not really a 'Classical' composer, since the Classical period really covers the years 1750-1820,but I will employ the term in it's coloquial sense: Symphony No. 1 in D Symphony No. 2 "The Resurection" Symphony No. 3 Symphony No. 4 Symphony No. 5 Symphony No. 6in A Minor "Tragische" Symphony No. 7 "Lied der Nacht" Symphony No. 8 in E flat "Symphony of a Thousand" Eine Symphonie für eine Tenor- und eine Alt- (oder Bariton-) Stimme und Orchester – better know as "Das Lied von der Erde" Symphony No. 9 Symphony No. 10 An the other options I prefer his Lieder Whose Gustav Mahler? I don't like Late Romantic/Neo-Modernist Composers, |

We've discussed this at least once before: TMP link It's a tough question though; I go back and forth between 2, 3 and 5. |

Back when I thought it was good for me, I bought as many clssical music albums as I could afford. That included a complete selection of the Mahler symphonies in one bunch. So, I played them all, several times, and could not find one that I would want to listen to again. Still have them. I think they are Deutsche Grammaphon. Make me an offer. |
