Hi Guys there was a few recent posts about the horrific, zombie like attack in Florida. There have been many posts where people have said they would be uncomfortable gaming current conflicts but what about this one ? There was little/no sympathy for the dead junkie, so would people mind gaming this ? They would be strong, fast and very hard to take down while being highly aggressive, almost like Fireflys reavers. It would also be a plausible setting for a Zed game, jut taking a bad batch of drugs to tr4igger several at once. There seem to have been similar incidencts to the recent one, so it does not seem to be an isolated event. Phil |

I'd get no pleasure from such a game. |

With the Florida attack so recent and fresh in people's minds, I would not like to game it out of respect for the family and friends of the victim, and to preserve my own sense of morality. From the wargame perspective, surely the concept of a 'normal' Zombie attack is chilling enough to get sufficient excitement out of a game, without having to add the drugs angle. Capt. d'Ewell |

Sure. Sounds like 'rage' zombies from 28 days later and I have no problems with that. |

What about the recent scopolaminee attacks in columbia? If you work them in as zombies I could see that as the basis of a skirmish game or rpg. |

I have no problem, as I see it no different than my law enforcement types taking down any other drug crazed killer. I do understand the sentiment of Captain DEwell and his sense of morality, just as i understand those who won't play NAM, or Iraq, or AF-PAK for similar reasons. JJ |

The main problem with this is that it is real and recent, so I assumed many people would not touch it with a barge pole for the same reason many wont game any conflict after WWII. The main appeal is that it would allow a horror style game without the suspension of disbelief required for most horror games as it is possible. It could therefore be played easily with modern skirmish rules rather than horror specific. Phil |

For a game like that, I don't see any need to base it from a true story. Just play a normal zombie game. It doesn't have to be a true story. Playing out a historical conflict (even recent ones) are a little different because it generally does not center on one person, but rather upon a military group. At the same time, there are some semi-military actions that I wouldn't play out, like some of the genocidal attacks in Africa or other areas. |

What Jake said. It's just another (somewhat more reasonable) explanation for how the zombies got to be zombies. Doug |

Was that chap a zombie? If there is a zombie problem they should call in Ms Jovovich and her pretty eyes. She would take care of things.

I read it may be linked back to a new drug, could be a nasty thing. If the infected could through a bite pass the state along, it could become quite an issue. And that I can see someone trying to make it happen, and not be surprised, bothers me a bit. I think I have given up on humans as a species. As for gaming it, many movies have hit close already, so unless the article was the intro to the game, most I think would perhaps think on it, but not dwell. I would play. |

I could see why some will think it is poor taste given current events. A drug that is creating a flesh eating ghoul is no different than a virus or alien infection doing the same. The only difference is that it has actually happened, and more than once. It would only matter if a relative of one of the attacks was a zombie gamer. You have to know your audience. |
