Often, if you assemble a multi-part tank model carelessly, you can end up with tank tracks that slope inwards instead of standing vertically. When you see one of these tanks, do you get annoyed? |

Only they belong to me. I've gone to the trouble of a rebuild when this happens. |
GeoffQRF | 30 May 2012 10:59 a.m. PST |
I never build them carelessly

Yes it does and I rebuild if it does happen. |

I hate it and try anything in my power to avoid it. I often use shims to keep the tracks perpendicular to the hull. |

Yes, I can't stand it. What I also can't tolerate are tanks whose tracks do not slack for some reason. Maybe it's because I prefer them stationary. |

Ditto to what Geoff said. |

Mine do. I've got a couple of Command Decision Stuarts that I never could get right. |

Yes. And ones who's road wheels run in any direction but parallel to the hull!!! |
GNREP8 | 30 May 2012 2:34 p.m. PST |
i also find that with some BF and also PP models that the tracks do not sit flat on the table and wobble and that get them flat they dont properly flush to the hull on the side (a particular problem with Pz IVs as the running boards are part of the track unit |

I just get out my wrench and go and adjust the camber of the tracks so they don't cause excess wear on one side or the other. |

A few strokes with a file flatten out the irregularities nicely

Ettranger, don't forget to ck your track tension. |

"And ones who's road wheels run in any direction but parallel to the hull!!!" I second that. |
Gunbird | 31 May 2012 1:57 a.m. PST |
As I base everything this is not really a problem for me. Unless it is particularly bad, I rebuild. |
Murvihill | 31 May 2012 10:06 a.m. PST |
Umm, I can spend my limited time fixing an old tank or I can spend time building a new one. I usually end up building a new one. |

My Command Decision Old Glory ones are warped so they won't go together straight without a lot of jigging and green stuff, I've had similar problems with a couple of SLAM carriers from GZG recently. Its amazing how out of whack either the masters or the moulds are. |

Yes, and I shim, etc., as a result. What I REALLY hate is regular wheels on trucks and the like that go all wobbly and/or won't stay on. So many 15mms have that problem. |

Let's not forget the vehicles that don't sit with all their tires/tracks touching the ground! I have torn apart more tanks and jeeps (not to mention Strykers) than I care to think about. It got to the point that I took a big mill file to the wheels/tracks until they all touch the ground! |

Never a problem with ships!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Only a problem if you use Pirellis super soft's, which you will have to change after one golden lap then a quick drop off anyway. If you use the prime's you will get quite a few miles out of them and you're camber problem won't be a issue. |
