But do you know how to pronounce Mousehole and do you know where it is?? ;-)

Oh and it's not near the Rats Castle in St Albans!

Cheriton30 May 2012 2:59 p.m. PST

Mowzol, southeast coast of Cornwall, a few miles short of Lands End?

Cheriton not only knows a good pint but also has a decent grasp of geography!

Excellent news! Cheers Gary!

Well I'd have come close with the pronunciation – and Will you know of old my knowledge of English geography is pants … I'd have got fairly close … :-)
But more importantly I didn't know the Spanish HAD invaded …
Hmm why do I feel an urge to sort a game out for the society … flit flit flit … :-)
Wonder who does figures in 28mm that would be suitable … Any suggestions?

The Spanish have landed in Britain more times than school text books care to mention.

I recall reading about Fernando Sánchez de Tovar in 1381 sailing up the Thames and burning the outskirts of London after raiding all the south coast of England during the 100 Years War.

Well I'd have come close with the pronunciation

Actually that is what I have done…close, perhaps. "Option 2" being Mowz'l…

That is my recollection, transcribed in a travel diary, of a local publican's ("The Coastguard"?) pronunciation a couple of decades ago.

I'd go with option 2 thumbs up

Agreed, having thought on it more…and having consulted the trip navigator (my good lady). evil grin

Another very interesting edition of Arqubusier. Thanks to all those that submitted material and those that produced it.

I must mention in particular the lengthy article on the Spanish in the TYW. It was extremely interesting and well presented. While I use the DBR rules it would be of valuable to anyone with an interest in the period.
