With Sarah Sutton's character coming in a close second, had a crush on her… Nearly had heart failure when she went around in undies for one episode…

Worst companions are Tegan and Turlough. Nothing against either actor though, I LOVE listening to Janet Felding when she does DVD commentary (and have to admit she looked good too).

I'd go with Zoe and Amy Pond.

Having gone through most of the surviving Hartnell episodes lately, I'll put in a good word for Vicki as the best of the "granddaughter" type Hartnell companions (not as weird as Susan or as annoying as Dodo).

I've always had a soft spot for Jamie and Zoe as the first companions I remember watching on TV, and Liz Shaw, Sarah Jane Smith, Harry Sullivan, Leela and Romana for the Seventies. Ace is about the only Eighties companion worth a vote. I'm not overly enamoured of any of the nuWho companions – Wilfred Mott is probably the best.

I enjoyed all of his female companions. All of the companions played a key role in the plot development and the ability to balance the current doctor. It may be easier for me to name the companions that I did not like rather than those that I did.

Some of the guys got on my nerves.

I just could never get past the Madeline, school-girl look of Romana II. I liked the tension between the 4th Doctor and Romana I.
