What do you do with the "inside," "hard to see" side of the tank tracks on your models? * paint them to same standard as rest of the tank * leave the insides unpainted * leave the insides primed only * paint the insides a dark color to look like shadows * other (add suggestions!) |

paint everything I can as best I can |

I tend to go for the same standard inside- it's nice to know it's been done right. |

Leave the inside primed only. |

I usually prime with matte black spray paint (Krylon), which gives a nice coat to paint on and fills all the crevases. If there are parts to fiddly to get my (fat, clumsy) paint brush into, they stay black, so it gets the shadow effect, per #4 in the OP. |

I prime black, and then spray on the base coat. I usually thrown in some dark gray on the tracks, and let that get onto the insides. After I paint the road wheels, it is usually too confined to get the rest of the insides. It's not as hidden as boots on drivers, but it may as well be. |

It depends on the scale. 1/35th, paint to the same standard. 1/300, paint dark. In-between, some variation on the two. |

It's been so long since I painted one, I don't really remember. I think I left them primer color
(black) |

I use a metallic wash over the tracks – so hidden bits get the same treatment as the visible bits (because the treatment gets everywhere) |

I undercoat black and they get the same muddy brown drybrush, inkwash and metallic highlight as the rest of the tracks. |

* paint the insides a dark colour to look like shadows, except if it's something easily visible. |

Paint it in mud colors. That's what they look like in real life. |

I prime black. I then dry brush with oily steel from Vallejo model color. Then I mud and rust it up with the weathering sticks from Tamiya or pigments from Vallejo. That's for 15mm. 28mm is a whole different ballgame. It depends on the tank, but some of the same applies -- however, I will probably pick out some of the inner workings with whatever main color the tank is and proceed from there. |

I paint them the same way as the rest of the tank. Probably really useless- but I'll know if I didn't do it. That's enough for me. |

I paint them sometimes. If it is a Soviet tank, I paint them in rust. All steel trax. Actually, I vary from model to model as to what color I pain them, sometimes black, sometimes brown/rust, sometimes gunmetal. |

If I have to pick the model up to see an area, that area doesn't get painted. |
