I think the title says it all, Tango01, aka Armand, aka Dr. Raùl Alberto de la Cruz…probably wanted in the State of Veracruz, Mexico for various crimes too, for all we know…wink

Spends a lot of time wandering the intranezt and brings back a haul of goodies that almost everyone here has found of use or interest.

IMHO, he truly "contributes" more than anyone else here on TMP…other than the guy who owns the joynte, of course!

What say youse guise?

He finds some great stuff!

Personal logo John the OFM Supporting Member of TMP26 May 2012 7:04 a.m. PST

I have to agree, even though I still think he is Big Mean Elf's secret identity.

Cyclops26 May 2012 7:09 a.m. PST

Bit too much of a scattergun approach to be honest. Too much non gaming related stuff to make me a fan but I'm not a rabid critic either. Put me down for a 'thanks but no thanks'.

Beowulf Fezian26 May 2012 7:20 a.m. PST

Let hear it for Tango01!

14Bore Supporting Member of TMP26 May 2012 7:20 a.m. PST

I find the info and blog sites he shows are very interesting. Even the out of my realm sites, the models and dioramas shows that the art of creating them is worth the look. Interpol will never get anything out of me about him.

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER26 May 2012 7:21 a.m. PST

I can always count on him for interesting stuff!

DesertScrb26 May 2012 7:32 a.m. PST

He always comes up with something interesting, even if it's not for everyone.

GoGators26 May 2012 7:34 a.m. PST

Tango can bring the links. He must have 35 hours in a day.

Dave Jackson Supporting Member of TMP26 May 2012 7:34 a.m. PST

I would counter Agent Brown and say I have many interests outside the strict confines of the TMP wargaming world, wandering into toy and model soldiers, fiction, non-fiction, intellectual etc. I find all of the websites found by Dr de la Cruz tremendously interesting, as they engage me in many of my wargaming and other interests.

Cincinnatus26 May 2012 7:48 a.m. PST

I like his contributions even when they aren't of specific interest.

There are a few detractors on here that seem to have a personal vendetta against him and try to pick apart his posts whenever they can. I'm not sure why they do that but it's nice to see that a lot of people seem to value what he brings to the site.

Caesar26 May 2012 7:55 a.m. PST

I am glad he's here, although I am baffled as to how he finds all this stuff.

Dropzonetoe Fezian26 May 2012 8:16 a.m. PST

Am I the only one who remembers his early "posts" informing us of these nifty companies out there like Games Workshop, Reaper, and Hasslefree?

How about the slew of "posts" linking to pictures of miniatures by posters here who were currently discussing their own work in threads on the front page at the time he "found" them for us?

I don't know who he is an alt for and don't care… nor do I care to debate with some of his other alts about his many great qualities.

For those with short memories or latecomers he started off trolling TMP with senseless posts.

Feel free to crow him up though…

Sundance26 May 2012 8:32 a.m. PST

Sorry, I find the random post after post after post annoying, especially since most of the real news in it is old news, to me at least, and I'm not really interested in looking at page after page of dioramas, painted figs, etc. He's had at least four different names on TMP. Claims to be a doctor – I don't know any doctor with that kind of time on his hands to do nothing but surf the net. As I've said before, we should give him his own board so those of us who want to can turn him off.

Fully with dropzone, and don't forget his anti-American trolling as well. He's had to be doghoused several times to get him to stop the shenanigans, so instead he just fills the page with random stuff.

ghostdog26 May 2012 8:33 a.m. PST

Once i found one of his posts interesting.now i am really really bored and tired of his "flood the front page" attitude.
Posting five different threads one after another, each one for a different fantasy miniature from the same modelling forum…it makes him look either insane or retarded…or an attention whor….well, you know what i mean.

ghostdog26 May 2012 8:38 a.m. PST

Btw, its like having one google ads bot as a tmp member. I really hate seeing interesting threads being displaced in the front page by six of his threads, ehn he could post the six links in one tread as they were about thew same topic

RavenscraftCybernetics26 May 2012 8:41 a.m. PST

As I've said before, we should give him his own board so those of us who want to turn him off can.

isnt that precisely what the stiffle button is for.

Dropzonetoe Fezian26 May 2012 8:42 a.m. PST

Doesn't stifle the posts though just what he says inside of them.

Cincinnatus26 May 2012 8:42 a.m. PST

See what I mean?

kreoseus226 May 2012 8:44 a.m. PST

It just clouds out other posters with a spamming effect. If it is on the internet, google can find it for me, and if not, I can ask a specific question here on TMP and those more knowledgable than I can provide useful information or links on the most obscure topics. He strikes me as the internet equivelent of an overenthusiastic puppy. Look what I found ! And quantity of posts and quality of posts is two very different things….

skippy000126 May 2012 8:48 a.m. PST

I consider Tango01 to be TMP's Point Man, Scout, Force Recon, Ranger for the Internet.

We don't know what kind of Doctor he is, or his duties/field and he doesn't have to explain it to us.

Thanks and keep clickin'.

Mako1126 May 2012 9:02 a.m. PST

I love his posts.

Glad he is getting the recognition he deserves.

Thanks for bringing it up.

nazrat26 May 2012 9:03 a.m. PST

I've never really had any problem with him and I don't quite understand the amount of antipathy directed at him. If you don't like his posts simply don't click on them! As for "crowding out other posters", you could say that about ANY of the guys who put threads up that hold no interest for you.

Variety is the spice of life, but some folks like to have it bland, I guess!

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP26 May 2012 9:11 a.m. PST

I am of two minds about him. I know him from over at the Hat forum first. Over there his early days were fairly controversial as they were here when he was Armand. He has toned it down quite a bit. I mostly enjoy his posts. He certainly is prolific. If I had a complaint it would be his reposting threads that the original owner had already done a day or so before. That is a little annoying but not the end of the world. There are certainly many more folks around here who contribute much less.

Thanks,

John

Mapleleaf26 May 2012 9:16 a.m. PST

I don't have any problems with him as long as he gives proper credit for what he posts and does not claim other peoples' material as his own .

Personal logo gamertom Supporting Member of TMP26 May 2012 9:53 a.m. PST

And quantity of posts and quality of posts is two very different things….

As Stalin is purported to have said "Quantity has a quality all its own." Tango01 (nee Armand) is a prolific poster and much of what he posts is of little interest to me, but he also posts stuff I never would have seen otherwise. I've gotten to the point that I use his titles, and the board he is posting to, as a way of judging whether or not to click on the post. There are times I wonder if he is a 60 year old retired dude with the mischievous streak of a 13 year old. On the whole I support his continuing to post.

He strikes me as the internet equivelent of an overenthusiastic puppy. Look what I found !

Puts me in mind of the Windows search engine doggy!

I can't remember him being rude to or disparaging of other posters and while not all of his finds interest me, occaasionally he turns up a real gem. Viva el Tango!

Oh! Boys!!
Many, many, many thanks for your extraordinary kindly words!.
I don't know how I can thanks you more in a idiom that's not mine.
I'm sorry too for those who don't like what I post.
But this is a free forum and everybody had the right to post what they consider interesting or usefull.
Thanks to Bill for that too.

I'm not still 60 years old. I'm a young man of 53.(smile)

About the recurring question about my Phd I put it in my page only because just out of habit.
Since I finished my first Phd at 28 years old I had signed all my works with the tittle.
Most recently I had finished the Phd of Foreign Commerce too.
I had not post so many threads as some consider.
If you visit my profile it shows 10 per day, and for those ones, you had to count also all my thanks for each one to the kindly people of this forum. So, maybe I put in here four or five new threads per day. But it's true that last year I increase them because I began to visit other forums and boards and in all them I had found so great people.

I'm not anti-American or Anti-English (even when I had fought against them).
I had the fortune to travel a lot arround the world, meet and deal with incredible good people, made many friends and also live sometime in friendly countries.

Sorry for those I have somehow disturbed.
Never was my intention.

And for those who had enjoy even one of my threads, I raise my glass of good wine Malvec to them and said once more that you had a friend here, in the far South in the moment you need me.

Viva TMP Carajo!!

The highest praise I can offer is, given his intellectual curiosity of all things, he would have made a damn fine librarian.

Captain dEwell26 May 2012 3:50 p.m. PST

Never heard of him. Where does he hang out? Is he part of a secret society or something – members only?

Sure feel I'm missing out here.

TMP = Tangos Multiple Posts?

I like a lot of the posts but sometimes get annoyed when they are poorly titled or repeats of someone else's posts. Tango does not seem to like to have that pointed out though, but apparently I have no sense of humour 8^)

I really don't have time to check everything out so appreciate a bit more accuracy in the titles. He does seem to be improving though.

I guess that makes me more positive towards him than I may appear to at times.

Nowami26 May 2012 4:25 p.m. PST

He''s enthusiastic and his posts are certainly varied, but then TMP is (supposed to be) varied. I give the man a yes vote because, despite the criticisms posted here (and other places on TMP), at his worst he's certainly more relevant than some of the crap that gets posted.

If you don't like him, then stifle him. Simples.

Garryowen Supporting Member of TMP26 May 2012 5:12 p.m. PST

Well, I don't know. I am not aware of the anti-American business. I don't remember it. I do get very tired of America bashing. But he denies being anti-American.

His profile says he is in Buenos Aires. My wife was born there and is very glad she is here. I am not sure what that has to do with anything. But, I don't run into residents of B.A. every day, so to me it was noteworthy,

He comes up with a lot of posts. I agree that many do not interest me. But my interests are somewhat narrow. So I could say that about a lot of posts. Most of what he posts that I go to is interesting.

So, with reservation about the alleged anti-American business, I guess I would say on the balance sheet, I think he makes a positive contribution to TMP.

Florida Tory26 May 2012 7:12 p.m. PST

I'm a fan. Tango's hits far outnumber his misses, and he finds many links my Google-fu has missed.

Armand, I don't know how anything I've seen you post could be accused of an anti-American or anti-British bias; I think some of your most interesting posts were the one you posted several years ago about your experiences during the Falklands War.

The comments about "crowding" or "displacement" are factually incorrect, and I'm sure give Bill some cause for exasperation. I am not aware that we have hit a limit in the capacity of TMP to retain older posts, or our ability to recover them with a search.

I'm a Tango fan. He does have some really good links and I appreciate that he finds them as I don't have the time to spend online. Plus, he's ppsted some things I never would have seen otherwise, which is cool. Posts that I've no interest in I simply click back from, only takes a second. Thumbs up, Tango!
