"But, everyone who really cared about Warhammer Historical has already moved on to better things." Oh? I guess me, all my friends, and bunches of posters here on TMP who still like and play WHH games (and all bought Kampfgruppe Normandy recently) are imaginary, then? Sheesh, use hyperbole much? |

Everyone seems to be using their own definition of "everyone" these days, and not the dictionary one. I blame it on the schools. |

Sorry Nazrat, I meant within the company. Specifically, Rob Broom with War & Conquest and Rick Priestly with Black Powder and Hail Caesar. Perhaps I am wrong, but can you really say that Warhammer Historical got much love from within GW? |

OFM I am not one of those who is not going to play the game because it is no longer produced. I have too much invested in it to do so and plenty of folks to game with that only play the original. My main thrust is that without books being reprinted that it will be difficult to garner interest from new players. I think you have hit on the problem. Yes people will carry on playing just as they did when rules like WRG 6th were replaced, but I haven't seen a 6th edition game or a competition at a show for years. I guess the same will happen with WAB – in fact it has started already. Few WAB competitions localy now and HC and CoE are gathering an increasing following. As Lorenzo Satori says in the latest Slingshot we are into the wars of the WAB successors! |

My main thrust is that without books being reprinted that it will be difficult to garner interest from new player Exactly. How can we continue to run the WAB tournaments at the cons if the books are not available? This would limit the tournament to people who already have the books. Eventually that pool of people gets smaller and smaller. There are two alternatives – War and Conquest and Clash of Empires. As much as I enjoyed our "Hail Caesar" games, I don't see it lending itself to a tournament setting. "Hail Caesar" shines when it's a large game run with a game master. |

As Lorenzo Satori says in the latest Slingshot we are into the wars of the WAB successors! Very interesting perspective – I like it! |

I agree with you completely in that case-- there is nobody left at GW that gives a crap about their historical rules and that's for sure! |

So, Piers, now that KGN is effectively KIA, does that mean you'll be able to pay more attention to Force on Force WW2? |

After trying the game KGN, I am disappointed that it will be OOP. I got other gamers to buy the simple, and easy to play rules. One thing can be done, and that is a Yahoo group, or blog, with player input, house rules, data cards, and or different theaters, or orders of battle to share, and support it. Why not? |

Few WAB competitions localy now ----------------- as a non competition gamer, the tournament aspect is not relevant for me personally. I and the group I play with will still keep on playing just as we did over the last few years – the only thing that has changed for us is the use of WAB 2.0 – not keen on the new AoA |

and there are those who say "good riddance" ----------------- yes I think they, with their 'its just fantasy nonsense – I'm a real wargamer' schadenfreude filled pov were already commented upon. The only time schadenfreude is ever justified is when it relates to a certain team in Manchester! |

.. so who will be "Rome" and seize the laurels now? Could it be time for Impetus to make a break for it? |

.. so who will be "Rome" and seize the laurels now? Could it be time for Impetus to make a break for it? ---------------- wouldn't have thought overly likely as would imagine that Impetus had an established constituency even when WAB was going – WAB players from what I have seen on the whole are looking for something similar hence W&C, CoE etc (and maybe HC which while a different style is still WAB like in terms of its trappings) |
