"7 Years War gaming" Topic

On a scale of 1-10, how important is to you, with 1 being: I'll never play it to 10 being: its the only thing I play.

I'm excluding North American operations. I'm interested here in European theater only.

6 Play it quite often, but not with my figures.

4 – I don't play it often but it is a great period.

8 – but am switching scales so will be on hold for a bit.

Well it is the Seven years War.

Package with two armies arriving in a week or so – then it will be a 9.

Probably 1. Enough excitement here in those days.

6 or 7. One of our top four games and probably in the top two. But since we do alternate games, I can't give it higher.

6. I have 15mm French, Saxons, Hanoverians, Hessians, British, and now Austrians. I play once several months with all the other games I own.

10, I do have two Prussian Regt (6 – 1 batt and 13 – two batt plus 2 coy gren), But having no others they get thrown in my Nap wars as German Aux.

My own armies have only ever covered the WAS and SYW so I'm not sure whether that makes me a 10 or a 5, depending on how precise you are being

6 or so, I'd play it with others' stuff; can't see building up a personal collection – too much to invest. Would do FIW though – less figs for skirmish games. Dean

I'm a 5, I suppose, being 'between collections' and not able to decide between 28mm and 10mm. However, when I had armies I was probably an 8

Been building my first SYW army since January having moved on from previous 19th C / Sudan project.

A solid 7. Got to leave room for teh unexpected.

6 – been intending to do it for years but haven't got there yet. The lack of a good book in English is a problem.

If I had a choice, it would be 50% 7Years war; and 50% Peninsular War – Spain, Napoleonics.

But I have no one within 1.5 hours who seem to know about these eras!

The guys played Maurice last Sunday but I was already committed to Ancients.

8 – Period played most often but there's always room for something else

18th C is my bag & iNations are a great way to play.

Left to my own devices I would rate a tanner but because I am 'forced' to game with real opponents/humans they drag my ideal 10 down to a sordid 6 with their silly Nap's and ancients and ACW and blah blah blah…..

9-5 I love it, used to play it a lot in my old club but then moved – now like Paint Pig I have to rely on others to oppose me, thus am painting Hanoverian/British to match my French so I can play with myself :D

I tried playing with myself but I couldn't quite pull it off, didn't have quite the same feel…..
