According to White Dwarf magazine…

Indeed, the Grand Masters hold that but a single Grey Knight is worth five 'ordinary' Space Marines.

In your experience, how many Space Marines is one Grey Knight worth?

Smokey Roan23 May 2012 4:54 a.m. PST

Don't know, do they ever fight against eachother?

Patrick R23 May 2012 4:58 a.m. PST

Is this GW justifying another price rise ?

Who is Gary Knight and why isn't he being fed to the Kraken?

Pictors Studio23 May 2012 5:44 a.m. PST

Probably about 1.5 regular space marines, 2 at the most.

Unrepentant Werewolf at work23 May 2012 6:00 a.m. PST

2 Smurf/Emo marines, 1 Wolf!

mad monkey 123 May 2012 6:11 a.m. PST

Grey Knight < Claw Hammer.

StCrispin23 May 2012 6:35 a.m. PST

One space marine squad is SUPPOSSED to be able to hold its own against a whole army, so if a grey knight is that tough, he SHOULD be the only figure on the table.

GW fluff never matches up with the game, as my orcs have killed many a space marine (though i've never actually beaten them). I never played it, but once white dwarf had "movie marines" rules to make a squad as tough as it was supposed to be. It sounds fun.

1 Black Space Marine and 1 White Space Marine = One Grey Knight

Sajiro23 May 2012 6:45 a.m. PST

These Grey Knights sound like Texas Ranges. One Ranger, one riot.

Grumpy Monkey23 May 2012 6:46 a.m. PST

@StCrispin

You will have to dig it up, but many moons ago GW published stats for a Space Marine squad if it were based on the fluff.

I think it was one 5 man squad vs about 2200 points of a "standard" army

PygmaelionAgain23 May 2012 6:46 a.m. PST

Interesting that the Grand Masters don't get around to telling us how that one Grey Knight is equipped and armored.

The value of a Grey Knight depends largely on what they are fighting.

The movie marine list is a LOT of fun to play. I have used it vs. friend's ork and IG lists. In the 3 games played with it the movie Marines are 1-2. All games are close but tons of their models are dead and real fast. I usually use about only 11 models and end up with either one or two left. Everyone should try it for some weird fun.

Lampyridae23 May 2012 7:27 a.m. PST

In Tomorrow's War, you can quite easily model "movie marines." Any properly equipped special forces unit should be theoretically capable of taking on many times its own number of lesser troops.

One Grey Knight… meh, maybe 2 Marines.

How many Grey Knights is worth one Mike Ditka?

Cerberus031123 May 2012 10:20 a.m. PST

Maybe three Grey Knights = 1 Mike Ditka when he was recovering from his bypass.

Now Chuck Norris… thats the question. How many Grey Knights would it take to equal one Chuck Norris?

billthecat23 May 2012 10:49 a.m. PST

I am waiting for the limited edition Adeptus Chuckus Norrisus in FineCast resin. Since he is worth 2000 points on the table, and you only need to buy one, he will cost about 1000 USD. A small price to pay. Of course, if you want to use the 'movie Chuck Norris', he is worth about 6000 points. Rumor has it that the 7th edition Chaos codex will include rules for Deth Lord DarthBruce LeeGor of the Doomskullz Deth-legions of Helgaurd, as a worthy opponent of Chuckus Norrisus. However, to compensate for the increasing price of resin and full-color packaging, there may be a price increase.

Cerberus0311: 1 Knight can easily best Chuck, Norris used to be good, then he got overrated, the only things Chuck can hope to beat now are Grots, Cultists and Conscripts(with great difficulty might I add)

GW doesn't want you buying five to ten space marines and being happy with that.

My son says make that gray knight half chuck norris/half macgyver and it'd be unstoppable.

Le Bovin24 May 2012 2:18 p.m. PST

Duct tape, pencil eraser and chewing gum does not exist in the 40k universe…

macGyver is screwed.

WarpSpeed25 May 2012 9:14 p.m. PST

1 devestator with krak missles is worth 5 grey knights!Guys marines are the shootiest army around…so shoot for goodness sakes ,even deploy forward and walk backwards to draw enemies into your big guns.I have never lost a single game to a melee army, they dont survive the journey.

You know, if anybody else said it, I wouldn't have read anything in that fluff, but now I can't imagine it's anything else.

emckinney03 Feb 2017 11:13 p.m. PST

Somebody not checking the dates on threads?

Capt Flash04 Feb 2017 7:22 a.m. PST

Why does it matter the dates? Interesting topics can be resurrected.
