Am I right in thinking that British Light Infantry Battalions in the Peninsula had no drummers, only buglers? And would that be one per company? |

Their establishments show drummers but inspection reports mention them having bugles. They had 2 per company. Rod |

It's certainly been the case for the last century or so that drummers also often carry bugles or fifes as a 'secondary weapon'. Might this also have been the case 200 years ago? |

The Rifle Corps certainly had buglers, not drummers I believe that the Light Infantry regiments also had bugles – and had then since the 1770's based on the experience of Hanovarian jaegers |
