I recently contracted Artmaster Studios to paint French Napoleonic figures. Here is the first batch of completed figures hot off their brushes:

What do they charge per figure? They look great!

They look wonderful!! Just a small detail, the "Joseph Napoleon" regiment was Spanish, not Italian;)
Bet the commission cost and arm and a leg, but IMHO well worth a limb or two!

10 GBP/ Foot
17.5 GBP/ Cavalry

Jeckyll -

Right you are!

I'll be using them as a part of Eugene's 4th Army Corps at Borodino, so I was thinking Italian.

Fairly expensive, 10 GBP for a foot!

No doubt about it!

…but I'd pay it again.

…and will. ;-)

Hi GDrover,

Beautiful set and I think your money is well worth it!

Not sure how fast the gents at Artmaster can paint, but if break it down hourly it would be alot easier to work in another profession instead.

Kudo to those guys, its a profession of passion.

Those are spectacular, worth every dollar (or pound) they charge.

Have used them for quite a few of my 20mm Napoleonics, they do spectacular work, are very pleasant and professional to deal with, keep you posted during the entire process and offer very quick turnaoround time on the orders as well.

Two thumbs up, you cannot go wrong with them.

At $15.00 USD US a figure I would be tempted to take on commissions.
Lets see..Other than skirmish a decent size Nap French army …400 figures at the low end. 400x$15.00=$6000.Not counting cavalry, leaders and artillery… Oh plus the cost of lead…
Yes, they are very well painted!

How long does it take you to paint a figure?

Let's say your time is worth $10 USD an hour to you. Even with assembly-lining the troops, you're still looking at an hour or two per.

I'm an excellent painter(I have painted samples for some figure companies in the past) but not fast. I can paint most any figure within an hour or less to a high quality.(without dipping)
I do admit it's very difficult to make a living painting figures.(also depends what your standard of living is) 5 daysx8 hrs=40hrsx$15=$600. Try feeding a family of 4,paying a mortgage, car payment etc. Thats why most painting services are part time ventures…
