Gunfreak,
I agree with you on the faces, and they are more animated than AB, and I even picked up a couple of bags of musketeers to check them out

If you have the commands, you'll probably need to drill out the hands and repalce with stiff wire, as the staffs are way too thick.

Very nice job on the painting though.

The wire is a little thicker for durability. The Flag covers the flag pole anyway except for the hands and who's looking?
We make the bayonets a little thicker also. We feel that part of a "good" figure also includes the intended purpose and use and thus durability is a consideration. The only other course is to make them thinner only to have half of your army without bayonets in about a year of playing with them?
If you notice, all the Blue Moon figures --such as the brits have the lace, etc properly scupted on the figures also.

Hi guy's,

I have also just bought some of the blue moon prussians.
I'm no expert on 15mm as I have only ever bought 28mm but I did some research and thought that blue moon would be a good combination between quality and price. Granted the AB figures are amazing and I will no doubt be getting some to fill my prussian ranks but for the bulk of my 1806 prussian army, they will be blue moon prussians.

I found they were nice to paint and look well preportioned.

The command staffs and standard bearers are way too thick but having played some 15mm napoleonics and seen how brittle some poles and bayonets can be I feel happy to leave them as they are, the flags will cover most of the flag pole anyway.

Anyway enough of my late night ramblings, good purchase gunfreak and good luck with the project.

Ps great website, I do look at it from time to time to see what you are painting next.

Cheers

Chris

I actualy like the flagpoles, the first thing I thought when I saw them, was: FINNALY!! I don't care that they are to thick, after all all miniatures from 6mm to 28mm, are slightly out of proportions with reality anyway. AB are problebly those miniatuires of all scales that are most realstic in proprtions.

I did like the fact the AB and BM are exactly the same hight, I compeard some AB british to my BM french, to the 0.00001MM they are the same hight.

It will be intersting to see how the BM cav is going to be.
Right now I have an excuse to buy AB, as BM has not realised cav and arty, but once they do, my wallet will demand I don't buy that much AB

The Guns, limbers, wagons, forges for the nations are done and ready to be molded -- crews, etc to be released along with them -- alot of Cav before years end.
Also -- do not forget -- I intend this to be the most comprehensive line of Napoleonics ever -- it will take 3-4 years but it will be done -- of course unless the world comes to an end or OG burns up --or I die, etc????

Keep 'em coming Russ,…

As almost all of my 1806-1807 AB Prussians, French, and Russians were purchased when they first came out in the nineties and at around half the price that they are at currently now (10 year absence from Napoleonic gaming and sitting on around 4,000 AB figures painted and unpainted).

If I was to start purchasing a Prussian Army today, I would most likely opt for Blue Moon, especially with the price differences between the 2 lines.

Russ, hopefully you come out with the Towarcys lancers as these are not covered by AB for some reason. I'm also interested in seeing the limbers, wagons, field forges, and 1806-07 Prussian and Russian Generals by Blue Moon. So yes you will get some future purchases from me.

I'm kicking myself for not stopping by the OG UK stand at Salute to see some of these in the flesh – but based on the pictures of your figures Gunfreak it seems to me that the 1806 Prussians aren't quite as nice as the later BM French Line infantry on your blog. And neither compare to the AB British Line figures for quality of sculpting – particularly in the faces.

I like variety of poses within my infantry units so there is room for BM figures – I do hope that this time round the sculpting remains consistent in quality, my biggest turn off with the Old Glory 15mm lines was that you needed to see each pack "in the flesh" as the sculpting and casting quality varied so much between packs.

I'll have to order a few packs of French Line and give them a try…

All the Blue moon Napoleonic figures are done by the same designer, the same armitures, dollies, etc so the figures are all off the same quality throughtout the range.
In my oponion (I know I have an interest in this but I am also an avid figure collector and gamer of 40 years who has painted 1000s of ABs)the Blue moon figures will match any range in quality.

The Prussians are as good as any other figures from the range.
In fact --they are identical other then the uniforms?
