Can anyone tell me what kind of muskets or rifles Austrian Jäger were using in 1813 (Leipzig)?

Thanks,

Burkhard

No expert, but:

By 1813 I'd think the rear rank would all be carrying the 1807 model Jager rifle. The front two ranks still had a smoothbore carbine, but I'm not sure what the designation was (cut-down 1798 musket? Cavalry carbine? Something custom-made for the job? I have no idea, sorry).

As far as i'm aware, the first time Jagers were all issued with a rifled weapon was when the Lorenz was introduced in the 1850's…and even then the front two ranks got the normal type, while the rear rank got a special Jager version.

EDIT: The Jager carbine seems to have been designated the 1807 Model as well, which makes sense.

There was an infantry carbine as well (IIRC M1807, but could have started in 1798). 2/3 of the Jäger had those carbines, 1/3 the Stutzen (= rifle).
