would someone be kind enough to let me know what the base sizes are for this set of rules. |
| MajorB | 18 May 2012 10:15 a.m. PST |
If it is similar to BP and HC then the base sizes don't really matter. For 28mm gigures, I'd go with a frontage of 20mm per figure. |

my gigures are 15mm and based for warmaster – 20mm by 40 – with three bases of 4 forming a unit of shotttttte and 4 bases of four 2-deep a unit of pikkkkkkke Your gigures may vary Pat |

I intend (for the whole series, from Hail Caesar to Black Powder) to use 15mm scale WRG standard bases (40mmxWhatever) with 6mm figs, since that's what I have already. I've not yet thought about how many stands to use per unit, but it will be the minimum I think looks decent (to start, at least – it might grow as more minis get painted and based, or it might not – I might do more armies instead). having not read pike and shotte, i have no idea what i'm talking about, but
one of my favorite thing about the other rule sets is how flexible they are with bases. as long as your opponent has roughly the same frontages (note, roughly) the game works fine. You could probably go with whatever looks right to you. |

Agreed. And the fact that the frontage that matters is that of the units, and not the individual stands, makes it that much more flexible. Doug |

my 10mm will be on 40mm x 20mm for shotte, 40 x 40 for pike blocks, and cavalry will be 60 x 40. |

I'm using the Perry Bros square bases for four figures per base, whatever those dimensions are. |

20mm x20mm per foot figure and 25mm x 50mm for horse. Can be mounted in multiple figure bases, etc. |

Ok, kinda follow-up question
In Blackpowder units are given an average figure strenght, this then is divided by the number of bases, which are used to depict the unit's formation (an important factor in the rules). Usually this is 4 to 6 bases. Does Pike&Shotte have something similar? Are the figure numbers per unit similar to those of Blackpowder? Is there some mention about formations and such, so that the multiple bases are important? Or can I just pop a number of figures on single 20x20 mm bases onto one movement tray and be done with it? |

As far as I'm concerned, as a 15mm player of BP and HC (and having just bought P&S) is that I have a way of defining Large Standard Small and Tiny units using my DBx based stands. For BP 7YW It's 4/3/2/1 for HC it's 8/6/4/2 for foot and 4/3/2/1 for mounted. |

I'm going with the Metal Bases i have (originally for 15mm Impetvs) which are 80x40mm. I also have 50x50 and 100x50 for cavalry. I'll go with 8 shotte per element (4x2 ranks) and 10 pike (5x2 ranks) with 4 bases (2 of each) to a regiment. Full regiments will therefore be 20 pike and 16 shotte, with Cavalry starting with 6 and going up to 10-12 |
