What are the differences if any between the above units and would the trumpeter/bugler have reverse colors please forgive my ignorance first time doing Austrians thank you in advance for much needed help john |

They are pretty much the same. Some had white coats, most green. I distiguish my "dragoons" by giving them the white coats (like curraiers) and the "Chevauleger" with the green coats. Regards Russ Dunaway |

Hello Russ thank you for your speedy reply this has helped me greatly but do you have any idea about the bugler/trumpeter john |

Trumpeter wear the same uniform, but with a red crest instead of the usual black & yellow. Also, the trumpet cord is black and yellow (and horse is usually a grey). FYI, IIRC only 3 regiments (all chevaux-Légers) wore the green uniform (they look much better though, and any troops not white are a blessing when painting Austrians). You can see some examples on my blog link Iannick clashofempires.ca |

Yes indeed -- the 1st, 2nd, and 4th regiments were in the green coats -- the rest white -- however I still think of the Chevauleger as having green coats for some reason and like I said -- it is a way to distiguish them from the dragoons on the table top. Regards Russ Dunaway |

I did a very extensive blog post on this rather confusing subject a few months back – includes all the regiments with their coat, facing and button colors. link The buttons were supposed to all be white metal for the Dragoons and yellow metal for the Chevau-Lagers, but even THAT wasn't consistent. Grrrr! Peter |

Dragoons & Cuirassiers I think would have brown leather horse furniture but the light cavalry black. If i recall correctly either from Osprey & some other publication |

The tack for Austrian cavalry is black. |
