Tinkering with doing some inter-war skirmish games in 15mm (scale not my choice). So looking for suitable 1930's civilian vehicles. Cars, trucks, panel vans, the sort of thing that would be used by civilians, police, gun runners, black marketeers, gangsters etc. The setting is in the UK/Europe.

I've not really seen much in this scale/size, so looking for advice from those that have been here before (that will be you guys and gals).

Yes, I'm very much aware of the Zvevda ZIS-3 truck and their Opel, but looking for a tad more variety.

If SDD are still going, I know that they have Austin 7s.

Any other manufacturers (UK based preferred). Also any die cast brands I should be looking out for? (I know most are sized to the box, but I have found some nice enough vehicles amongst them for projects in other scales).

Advice and pointers much appriciated

Trucks aren't too tricky …

In addition to the various Zis. Opel and similar, QRF do quite a nice Chevvy truck (French: link ).

Trevor the Traction Engine is a Thomas the Tank Engine classic, and you can 'jaloppy up' the look of Zis type trucks by changing the wheels

(BF Zis 5: the wheels come from a cake decoration train)

Civilian cars are more of a problem and the best are railway Modeller imports. Peter Pig does a nice Citroen if you are in France or Italy, Quality Castings an OK American style staff car (but it is a bit small)…

This favourite of mine next to some PP 15mm chaps is from the Railway source (no idea what range it is, it came from an odd little shop in Savannah and I instantly liked it: it is probably a tad closer to 1:87 but I think it is just right)

Good luck (keep us posted if you find anything good out there) …

The Zis is more or less a straight copy of the Ford A, so that makes it very widely useable. Battlefront have the very useful Citroen type 23 truck, which is a civilian model. Both they & Peter Pig have larger Renault trucks too, which have civilian applications. QRF also have an Opel sedan & a small Renault in their small civilian vehicles range.

QRF's Opel Sedan and Renault models are of the 'rough and ready' style. Not everyone's preference.

Check out Brekina on Ebay, they do some nice mid wars stuff and it's not alwys pricey

Thanks for the suggestions and ideas.

Off the boards, a gaming buddy suggested a range of no brand die casts from readers digest. I am awaiting delivery of a set I got very cheap on ebay and shall report back when they arrive and I can verify they fit in.

Nope, the don't fit in, pity. Still a good basis for making some trucks but for cars, still too big

I think you will find something to please you here…. link
