Noob question: were the French regimental "colors" flown from the same pole that had the "eagle" on the top, or were they 2 separate things. Thanks.

The regimental Colour was flown from the Eagle – one per Regt of 4-5 Bns.

Each Bn may have also had a Bn 'Fanion', flown from a pike type arrangement.

However oft times the Eagle was seen sans Colour…On route march etc…
