I am always hearing gamers talk about the lead pile. At what point does it just become absurd and a waste of one's resources.
1) I will never admit I have too much stuff.
2) I am morally obligated to support miniature manufacturers to keep the economy strong.
3) My lead pile is so tiny I refuse to discuss the matter.
4) I use a secret rental unit so the neighbors cannot call the authorities on me.
5) It's my time and money! Get off my lawn!
6) As soon as I have them all painted we conquer the world.

About a thousand minis ago…

J Womack 9414 May 2012 3:47 p.m. PST

Oh, and it isn't the minis. It's the terrain and paints and bits and books that my wife thinks is 'hoarding'.

richarDISNEY14 May 2012 3:52 p.m. PST

4 -- but I forgot I had that rental til they asked me for another 5 year rental…
What a find!

It's a manner of can you quit tomorrow? No more painting, gaming, terrain building. I could, but I'm not going too. Now I'm going to go back painting my Lauenburg Battalion

panzerCDR14 May 2012 4:02 p.m. PST

When you have more of (insert favorite manufacturer's name here) stuff than your LGS has EVER had in stock.

I am now WAY beyond that criteria . . .

When their mass is such a size as to prevent you from conducting routine, everyday activities.

It's been a long, long, long time since it was under control.

I no longer have the strength to even worry about it.

Wolfprophet14 May 2012 4:44 p.m. PST

When you don't have an organized method of storing within your home's capacity.

In other words, 2000 minis ago for me.

Also. 1, 2, 5 and 6.

I think this is a totally silly question. And no, I don't have a problem. Just don't ask the BOSS.

The Tin Dictator14 May 2012 5:31 p.m. PST

When you have a deadlead pile that is in excess of 17,374 figures it should be considered hoarding. You should then have to redistribute some to other gamers so that you can remain below that threshhold. Its all very simple when you think about it.

Tuudawgs14 May 2012 5:35 p.m. PST

2. See, it's very simple. If I didn't buy them there would be no one selling them. Then there would be no one to buy from. So I must keep buying them or I won't be able to. evil grin

I decided I reached the "H" status this year. Am selling off all genres except for my two favorites.

Acutally, my terrain collection is starting to impinge on movement in my storage room, not my minis.

dBerczerk15 May 2012 6:21 a.m. PST

It becomed "hoarding" when you can't bring yourself to give away figures you know you'll never paint to a friend or colleague new to the period or scale.

If you're not going to paint them, give them to someone who will!

Lentulus15 May 2012 7:39 a.m. PST

It's hoarding when your miniatures collection makes it hard to move around your kitchen.

I have a friend with a hoarding problem – not minis – and I am not kidding.

ChicChocMtdRifles15 May 2012 10:13 a.m. PST

When you lock them them in a bomb/dtormproof vault, and visit them time to time.

14Bore15 May 2012 1:25 p.m. PST

My second answer is when you have every unit in your choise of era and scale, and you start over in the same scale and same armys. Then you might have a problem..

John the OFM15 May 2012 7:31 p.m. PST

My second answer is when you have every unit in your choise of era and scale, and you start over in the same scale and same armys.

I did that, but in a smaller scale.
I bought some Crusader Orc Pirates at a convention. when I got home to put them away, I found more that I do nto emember buying.
