I have been thinking about starting this period and was thinking of using 25/28mm, but with some of the recent postings of excellent 15mm/18mm figures that are in production, I have been rethinking my plans. Which manufacturers produce figures for this period? Please comment on figure size (small vs large) so I have an idea if they are closer to 15mm or 18mm. I will be seeing a bunch of sites related to the TYW in Bavaria and Franconia over the next week or two and will likely come home even more interested than when I left. Thanks! |

For Imperialists, Khurasan is my choice. In fact they are the ONLY manufacture who produces figs and ANY scale historically accurate for the TYW on all levels that I am aware of. TAG is close, but they have only closed helms for the curaissers. I have posted a link to their site via this renaisance forum a couple of days ago. They are large 15mm, really 18mm and very well sculpted. Testudo are nice. I used to collect them several years ago. However, there is a noticable issue with size. The infantry are much larger than the cavalry, relatively. When together up close, it simply does not look right. Again, they are not 100% historically accurate, but would be my second choice for 18mm. ilodic |

you got several but you'll have to chose figs sizes small figures (15+ mm) QRF (ex Freikorps) mainly English civil war though most can be used for 30yw you will need elsewhere specific Croats, Spaniards more Kuirassiers
Minifigs (now under caliver) many ECW from Peter Pig some of Irregular esp his pancerni/Poles/Croats mounted or foot Old Glory 15 has an extensive range that fits in between sizes; their cavalry that has a lot of variants, could be used with /instead of the other's small sized ones. they would fit separate but alongside the bigger ones (esp with slightly thicker bases) Bigger figures 18+mm (done specifically for the period/subject all can/ should be mixed (all smashing with variants ) Testudo Khurasan ACIES Edizioni jc |

I also like the mix of using Khurasan, Acies Edizioni and Testudo, but I keep them within units. |
