How long should a miniature game last 1. Hour or less 2. Two hours 3. Three hours 4. Four hours 5 Five plus hours at least
6 I prefer games that last all day. 7.Star early in the morning and stop late late at night. 8 I don't play miniature games. 9. One day is not enough. |

Depends on how many troops are involved. Two-three hours for a skirmish, days for battles with large masses. |

If you're all having fun who bloody cares how long the game lasts!!! |
Mako11 | 10 May 2012 11:20 p.m. PST |
Depends upon the game, type of rules, setting, etc. 1 – 2 for quick land skirmish, air, naval, or space games, and ones for personal combat (probably a 1 for the latter). 3 – 4 for more involved, larger games of the above. 5 – 6 occasionally, for mega-games, and/or mini-campaigns/linked battles. I'm not sure I could do 7 or above, unless there were at least hour-long breaks every 4 – 6 hours, or so. |

Depends on how often I play each month. If only once a month, then I would go with #5 or #6 choices. If several times in the same month, a mix of short to long games. WR |

I'll use the analogy we used to use for research papers: It needs to be like a woman's skirt, long enough to cover the subject, but short enough to keep it interesting. Jeff |

If you're all having fun who bloody cares how long the game lasts!!! The wife and kids. Though I think 2-3 hours is just about right, it's hard to find the time. |

2. Two hours But we often like to string together scenarios of smaller skirmish games. The outcome of the first game affects the second game (who is on which table, who gets to pick sides, maybe a tactical advantage or so) and so on. |

Three to Five hours -- then suspend the game until another day. Most of our games took weeks/months. I only play huge games and due to a dedicated wargame roon I can leave the game as is. Regards Russ Dunaway |

Sumatran Rat Monkey | 11 May 2012 6:25 a.m. PST |
I'll say 2-4 hours, depending on the particular game, with exceptions made in either direction as appropriate. Perhaps somewhat unusually, I actually prefer that skirmish games last longer than mass combat games, the reasoning behind it being that skirmish games, for me, should focus on the individuals and their individual options, as opposed to games where an entire unit- and frequently, several units in conjunction- focus on a singular goal, thereby speeding movement, planning, and resolution. - Monk |
TodCreasey | 11 May 2012 6:41 a.m. PST |

Multiple choice for me. anything between 3/4 – 3 hours. ~45-60 minutes: DBA, BloodBowl 7's etc = several rounds of play in an evening, or mini tourney in a convention time slot. 2 hours: Bloodbowl, BBDBA = 1 evening game, or an all day tourney. 3 hours (4 max); Blitzkrieg Commander or any scenario game for an evening's play or convention timeslot. |
