Why do not more online shops not use USPS flat rate shipping more than they do? It is a stable price. Lowers the shippers cost because the shipping boxes/envelopes are free. They deliver to PO Boxes. It seems like a no brainer to me.

Good question. I have often wondered that myself.

Yes, but unless you have very sophisticated integration with the post office API, you have a hard time determining which things will fit and which won't. Even then, you have to have the dimensions of every item in your inventory. And then sometimes flat rate is cheaper, sometimes not.

Hey, don't through facts at a good rant. That isn't called for!

It does seem like a good deal but Parcel Post can be cheaper depending on the size of the item rather than the weight.

Unless the object is fairly heavy it is usually cheaper to ship it Priority than to use a Flat Rate Priority box.

And what Great Hall Games said. Shopping Cart software sometimes gets wonky when it comes to shipping, especially how it determines what will fit into a size X box. The problem gets exponentially worse if you have items that vary greatly in size and weight.

What Great Hall and Evil Bob said is right. \

A company I worked for switched from USPS to FedEx only because FedEx was able to do that hard stuff for us. While the costs may seem more, we spent less time figuring what fit which package, printing labels, buying boxes, etc. From what I was lead to believe, it saved us a significant amount of money.

Just drop it by on your way home.
