Check this out. I wonder whatever happened to this sweet old diorama?

The photos are from 1954.

Dunno but it looks like the Union are going to win. In reserve they have a giant man. evil grin

Nice looking battle or diorama. Which is it BTW? The article is titled "Table-Top Battle".

The caption to the photo says Gettysburg day 1.

I applaud the gents efforts but boy do I dislike that scale. Looks like 40mm or more likely 54mm plastic. I also can't for the life of me see any Day 1 features in those pics.

The Yanks being chased through Gettysburg it appears.

The nearest artillery piece in the first photo looks like a 54mm Britains.

Ed Mohrmann10 May 2012 12:01 p.m. PST

The photo caption says figures from W. Britains, Bussler
and Tru-Craft.

All are/were 54mm manufacturers.

There are lot of the old Marx figures in there as well. I remember the article, it appeared in the Sunday magazine section of the newspaper.

Most of those figures are Marx Warriors of the World, Tim-Mee and Ideal (AndyGard) ACW figures. They are 60 mm in scale. The Marx figures were hard plastic "painted by artists." The Ideal (AndyGard) and Tim-Mee are soft plastic.

All of those figures are available in reproduction today.

OK, who remembers the Warriors of the World commercial jingle? I'll start…

"Union troops, Confederate troops
20 th. Century combat troops
Cadets all ready for dress parade
Minutemen in full brigade."

Scott Mingus10 May 2012 5:28 p.m. PST

"Cowboys and Indians
Pirates bold
Vikings and Romans from days of old
Each beautifully painted by hand,
The best looking warriors in the land!"

See link for my blog entry with photos of some of my old Civil War Marx Warriors of the World figures.

Note the price -- only 10 cents per figure from the Zanesville, Ohio, S.S. Kresge store!

Scott,I bought those Reb figures on my very first trip to Gettysburg in 1973! I always remembered, they were bigger than my CW Deetail figures and Marx figures.
