Maybe I missed some AAR's but I was wondering if anyone has gotten a chance to try the rules out yet? Im particularly interested in using them for the later medieval/ early renaissance periods. Still painting up minis myself. Thanks. U.K. |

Me, against myself
. first REAL Game not until next thursday. Playing Myself, I spotted two or three things that made me wonder. imagine the foe has a sleeved unit – shot-pike-shot. organise your line so only your pike are charging. guaranteed win over the shot, who cannot hedgehog with the pike as they are in combat too – in otherwords a pike-heavy army, like Covenanters, will tend to beat a shooty army. I KNOW the game is intended for gentlemanly play, but if the rules allow you to sieze an advantage, it's wrong not to. Noone ever says 'Well, I could checkmate my opponent, but that would be rude

Played two games. We had a great time. Didn't have much pike charging. You get a fair chance to shoot at them before they get in so disorder is a real threat. We didn't sleeve our shot as we used a Swedish sort of deployment in game one and had a fair few hedges in game two. My feedback is that it gives a fun game that is very different from black powder or hail Caesar ( as it should be) and more "fun" than other P&S sets a that I have played before. |

I've also played a game and this never happened. First, your opponent has to oblige you by allowing you to get the match-up you want. Second, if your opponent has his units supporting each other you will take at least 2 shots coming in,not to mention being shot as a charge reaction (not just from the target but also due to traversing fire) and there's a good chance you either won't make it in (you'll be shaken) or you'll make it in disordered. My point is that while in the abstract it's easy to do what you propose, pulling it off in an actual game is something else entirely. |

Looking forward to picking up the rules at Historicon and giving them a try. Currently I run games of Warhammer ECW but would not mind having a different flavor to use with my existing collection. |

Thanks for the comments so far. As stated, ill be doing later medieval but sounds like it should work well enough and more importantly be fun! |
