By chance I was in Pets at Home(New Maldon – UK) on Sunday collecting various things for the cats, guinea pigs etc and noticed they were running a 3 for 2 deal on all their aquarium stuff – plants, temple ruins, gravel etc. I for my sins have already filled a table with Jungle niceties but I thought others my be interested in the offer. Pictures of the Jungle can be found at link Happy shopping |

I have noticed a nuber of interesting items in pet shops recently too. Various crashed/damaged aircraft, ships, submarines and perhaps most useful vehicles including Tiger tanks and Hanomags. These are not scale models but a number of the aircraft and vehicles are perhaps close enough for 28mm games. |

Eric, was there a brand name on any of those? |

I was imagining Tiger tanks at the bottom of aquaria; WWII German soldiers dumped a lot of equipment in lakes to avoid capture. On the other hand, in a terrarium, with an iguana crawling over, it'd take me back to the drive-in movies of my youth

The buildings above were scratchbuilt from hardcore and foam blocks Hardcore? Or foamcore? |
| EricThe Shed | 10 May 2012 11:10 a.m. PST |
Sorry Geoff The report meant to read hardboard and foam blocks. The bases are hardboard and the stone blocks are blocks cut from blue foam (the really dense stuff) I think hardcore must of been on my mind at the time – I had just laid a new concrete base to extend the shed. Eric |

Hi Poitier I dont recall seeing a brand – if I get the chance Ill drop by the store over the weekend and see what I can do. What I can say is the following link leads to the best of the aquartics I have found – these ruins form the mainstay of my games and work perfectly for 28mm. auction PS I have repainted these grey and drybrushed light grey and white

Thanks for that auction link. I bought the large Roman temple with steps from a US supplier but the range shown on your your link is even better. One I have not been able to find elsewhere is 160689596626 (Ebay item). I plan to cut the supports down and use it as a 28mm gaming piece. Postage to Oz is always the killer, particularly on this bridge. |

??? Do British cats like to play with miniature Tiger tanks? ??? My cat Nero is built like a Tiger tank, but he is French so I supose that doesn't count. |

Just sayin'. |
