Depends on how you define "need". |
| BW1959 | 08 May 2012 3:56 p.m. PST |
What I need are dice that don't roll a "one" every time in a close combat. So no I need lots more, that would be a 4. |

2, although Mrs Pumblechook comes back from every convention with more
themed dice for specific armies, dice with strange symbols on them that she'll never use
She obviously comes under category 4 |

You don't have to have a 'need' to 'own' dice. I have so many and types of dice, I stopped counting. But just about every shape and size imagineable, from sqare to round; 2 sided up to 100 sided; numbers & roman numerals; letters, animals, and symbols; tiny, small, medium, large, and enormous; specialty dice (random event, paper-rock-scissors, weather, etc.); dice within a dice; foam, plastic, glass, metal, wood, and bone. red, white, blue, and the rest of the rainbow. -David G. gamerarchitect.blogspot.com |

2 No Actually, my last RPG session (D&D 3.5; soon to switch to Pathfinder) I realized I'd somehow lost my glow-in-the-dark d10 and I was somewhat sad

Sold 30 pounds of dice on eBay. So I clearly can not be #4. Still have boxes of dice. And the wife buys a new set every year so I can't be #2 (or 2B) When I was 13 Koplow himself gave me a pair of dice (I still have to this day 26 years later) to leave his GenCon booth. So in sense I have yet to admit that I'm number #6. I've yet to use my D16 that I got from Chessex in '93 So I'm a little #3? No longer work in the gaming industry so I'm not #5 I am dice and dice are me. Welcome to the Nth. The dice roll nice here. |

1 and 4. I actually embarked on a project a couple years ago to collect partial dice sets from myself and donations from other players. Then I inventoried the gaps, made them up by buying single dice at game stores (first asking if they would sell out of the bowl of used dice every store has). When done I had numerous triple sets, which to me is the right number for a D&D player. Usually 2 of the same color and one of a contrasting. I got some plastic tubular parts holders from Home Depot (called "Viewtainers" I think) that can serve as both holders and dice cups. At games, I put out these tubes of dice sets with pencils and erasers. Turns out most gamers in my group have been in the habit for years of not showing up with dice or pencils or both, and they appreciate this. Of course I do still have at home a bag of partial dice sets that is the size of a small pillow. |

1 I'd like a few more specialist dice, but can't justify getting them made. |

No matter how many dice I buy, the one that never rolls low still eludes me. If I could find that one, I'd throw away the dozens of other dice I've got. |

1 and 4
as they are not exclusive of each other 1 – Yes
I have more than I need
as I only need one each of D4 d6 d8 d12 and d20 (numbered 0-9 twice) 4 – as I have 38000 in the collection and about 7000 duplicates :) |

How can you have too many dice? Every second new set of rules increases the number of dice you need So – 4 |
