Does Peter Pig make the best figs in this genre? They certainly seem to have a pretty comprehensive range. Comments and/or comparisons with other manufacturers would be appreciated as well. Thanks. |

I don't know if they are the best or not but the Command Decision modern African troops are very nice for a low price (ordered from warweb). They had very little flash or casting problems (probably due to being a low demand item) and painted up well. About 5 or 6 sculpts in each set (regulars, irregulars, and command sets for both). I liked the irregular with a machete, had to add some blood onto the tips of a couple of course. |

I've got both Peter Pig and the Command Decision Africans in my AK-47 armies both are nice (though I think PP shade it).I have to say though the PP miniatures are proper 15mm while the CD ones are closer to 18-20mm in height. Not a problem in their own units but they don't mix well in the same unit. |

For AK 47 games with figures based in threes I tend to base and separate units by manufacturer, but for Force on Force where figures are based individually I mix figures from different manufacturers to get a more ragged feel to the irregular forces. Peter Pig has the most comprehensive range and in comparison to Command Decision are the better cast figures, particularly if you are happy to do head swaps as well. They are certainly the most suitable for the "regular" African armies, but for armed gangs and civilians I have mixed in a few Command decision figures together with Flashpoint miniatures Somali pirates, and Lancashire games guerillas (these are pretty bad for scale and the RPG would be better in a Scifi game but a single pack gives a bit more variety). I have also ordered the Rebel Miniatures African packs in their recent sale, which, if they are similar to their US infantry, they are likely to be rather small and thin in comparison to other ranges. I am waiting on the new owners of the Cannon Fodder figures to see if they are going to re-release their Africans as well. |

It's a long while. I got distracted with post war British and Cold War Soviets. |
