Bill, While I will not argue with democracy in action (although I will point out that the two top entries got over 60% of the votes, but were seperated from each other by less than 20 votes - can you say recount *smile* ) I do think the new icon is a tad too big. Any chance you could shrink it down without loosing too much of the appeal? As always, YMMV... - Joe |
stingray20166 | 02 Aug 2004 9:27 a.m. PST |
Agreed -- after seeing all of the logos in action I actually changed my vote from the winner to the sword -- because the sword is the right size and does not distact. The winning logo is simply too big -- but it can probably be shrunk quite a bit and still look good. |

Agree--shrinking is in order. |
Parzival | 02 Aug 2004 9:42 a.m. PST |
Geez, I'm out of town and I come back and big hulking blue logos have taken over. And it looks like all you supporting guys just got a demotion! The 5 red stars were tempting... but this one isn't. |
ADogNamedGrrr | 02 Aug 2004 9:44 a.m. PST |
I think the winner was the best one although it could use some shrinking (by as much as 50%). |

I think it is way too big. I also voted for the sword, since it had the right shape. |
Paintbeast | 02 Aug 2004 9:50 a.m. PST |
Love the icon, but it is a tad too large. |
Privateer4hire | 02 Aug 2004 9:53 a.m. PST |
I love the larger size. Emphasizes the bearer's importance to the continuity of the community. Remember that line in the Fifth Element about being proud of your people :) You're warriors. Be proud! |
Ivan DBA | 02 Aug 2004 9:55 a.m. PST |
Why don't we have a run-off vote between the two designs that got the most votes? |
Derek H | 02 Aug 2004 9:55 a.m. PST |
It needs reduced to about 1/3rd size, but it probably wouldn't work at that size. |

This is one case where shrinkage would be good. Allen |
hetzerdog | 02 Aug 2004 9:58 a.m. PST |
I think half size would do it and it's classier than the sword. By the way - has anybody else noticed that the old supporting member logo still appears at the top left of the front page (the "welcome back..." bit)? |
mweaver | 02 Aug 2004 9:59 a.m. PST |
Too big. I didn't vote for the sword because it would not have shown up at all against the white background. Had the sword been placed against a darker color, it would have been my favorite by far. |
Sir James | 02 Aug 2004 10:00 a.m. PST |
No need to shrink it. Just add a 4th star and put 2 stars, then "TMP" then 2 more stars all on one line. Like this: ** TMP ** - Jim |

Its way too big. I'm afraid it will symbolize negatively favored status for paying members. Not only that, it overwhelms the whole post! Half the size will look great. |

It's wasted screen real estate. I didn't have to scroll so much when the icon was the same size as the text. I'm still annoyed that Bill didn't let us vote for the old one. :p |

It's too tall. I actually went to try and change my vote today to a shorter one-- but the poll closed yesterday. Ah well (I voted for the bars-- cool concept, but also too tall).
|
E Murray | 02 Aug 2004 10:56 a.m. PST |
I think the "TMP" should be cut off. That would make it half the height. The resulting confusion between TMP Supporting Members and all the other Supporting Members should be minimal :) |
jizbrand | 02 Aug 2004 10:58 a.m. PST |
I agree with the vast majority -- too big! |

...following along the lines of "astronomican" - why not just have the TMP on one line with a star on either side? *TMP* That will "thin it out" and give a nice, balanced look. |

From the guy that designed it... I agree, it's way too big. I'd like to see it 30% smaller... I need to email my address to Bill for the boxed set so i'll run the proposal by him and see what he thinks... one last thing... Thanks for the votes!! |
adster | 02 Aug 2004 12:05 p.m. PST |
Way too big and way too "not the old logo"... |
Meiczyslaw | 02 Aug 2004 12:55 p.m. PST |
Actually, it's no surprise that folks are complaining. This logo only got 33% of the vote -- which could mean that as many as 2/3rds of us hate the darn thing. And there was no "none of the above" choice, nor was there a "old one" choice. |
