Hi

I was wondering how many people actually cast up and game with Prince August 40mm 18th century figures.

I know of a few but I was wondering who else does.

Are there many out there with moulds but never got around to casting/painting figures.

Would there be enough interest to form a yahoo group to share information/castings/moulds.

Just wondering

Cheers

Mark

One of the guys in our wargaming group uses them exclusively for his 18th Century armies. You can see his troops on his blogs:

The HAWks have a club project based on them called Not Quite the Seven Years War, where each particpant designs his own country and uniform.

Here's Rob Dean's blog with lots of photos of the project:

And here's Ross MacFarlane's

There is a Yahoogroup called Littlewars that already deals with casting and playing with 40mm PA figures to some extent:

Yes, I have eight battalions of 24 figures each of foot and four squadrons of 12 figs each of cuirassiers finished a like number plus artillery and commands waiting for paint.

I am sorely tempted, so may well get some moulds, but that is a "next year" project for me.

I'm using them for my WAS armies

This is a dangerous thing for me. I've seen the Prince August stuf at cons occasinally and I LIKE THEM! The problem is that I already have a VAST colletion of 28mm-30mm 18th century imagi-nation armies. However, if a period is worth doing, it's worth doing in more than one scale.

I am steadily resisting. I really am--- Honest-- (note to self , be strong, be strong, you must be strong…)

Seriously, I am thinking of doing a few of them-- just a few, a few units or two- for skirmish gaming-- honest.. really….

Not really, but… I was in our tiny local charity shop today and stumbled upon a Prince August starter kit with four moulds. (Also have a small starter kit with one mould from when I was a kid… somewhere. Now I want to find it again.)

Couldn't just leave them there, could I? Also included was some 30 unpainted figures plus a few cannons. Guess I have to do some casting and play some game with them. This was not planned.

Mark,

You know where I stand on Prince August. ;-)

Actually there is a Yahoo group for Prince August, although slanted more towards fantasy figures, I think. Quite dead though. So is the forum at Prince August for that matter.

I'd certainly join a Yahoo group devoted to the PA 18th Century 40mm ranges. However, I wonder what with all the other Yahoo groups such as 40mm Wargaming/Collecting (UK), Lace Wars, Old School, Little Wars and the like, if there would be enough that is unique to build the membership and traffic needed to establish a critical mass.

A more fully featured, PA-dedicated forum without the irritations of Yahoo's minimalist format would be most welcome.

Regards,
Steve

We have wargamed with Prince August figures for many years and the collection totals approximately 1,200 figures. Four main armies are represented , British, French, Russian and Prussian, with smaller supporting states. We love them and never fail to have a good game with them. There are a few photos on our blog link Dave H.

Another temptation.
