I have really enjoyed Legends of the Old West over the years. It has been our go-to Old West game. If you are familiar with the Lord of the Rings game from GW you already know the basic mechanics. The campaign system inherent in it is pretty much straight out of Necromunda. The combination works pretty well together and is suitable for gangs of miniatures from 3-10 strong. |

Lots of good choices: Gunfight!: Built around stats and skills, with players controlling a handful of figures. One of the more detailed combat systems for this genre. (Caveat: I am the publisher of these rules). Gutshot: This has an almost "pulp" feel, designed for a Roy Rogers type game. Think sequin shirts and damsels in distress. Has a campaign module for multiple game scenarios (like a posse/fleeing gang set up). Legends of the Old West: Built around small groups called "posses" with an almost RPG-lite feel. Typical Games Workshop game mechanics. Modules for Plains Indian Wars and the Alamo. Desperado: Pretty straight forward shoot-out style game. Six Gun Sound: Old West using the Reaction System from Two Hour Wargames. Core of the game is reaction where figures don't necessarily react as you'd like. I recommend Gutshot as one of the best Wild West games on today's market. For a complete list of all Wild West games published to date: link

Hey JJ TRWNN group is only about the rules. THW is about, well everything from THW. I'd humbly suggest that any questions about TRWNN would be readily answered at the group. Inari and I mod it. Thanks, John |

Mad Micky: Aside from Free, what other info can you give us that would help steer you in the right direction? Are there any particulars as far as: - Number of players? - Number of minis? - Any particular "feel" you're looking for? Spaghetti Western, recreating historic gun fights, or just good old-fashioned fun? The more info you can give us, the faster we can help you find the right game for you and your group. As much as I'd love for you to buy a copy of Gutshot (my pony needs new shoes!), I'm more interested in hitching you up with the right game that will suit your preferred game style. To that end, mosey on over to our Website for a glance at some great free adventures (even if you don't get Gutshot, you could easily adapt these scenarios to other game systems). Legends is now OOP
but ebay may be your friend. It is easy to pick up, plays well in an evening, very easy to run as campaign, but rather formulaic. |

Just picked up a copy of USE ME The Wild West. Have only read through it so far but it looks pretty good (I also have the Sci-Fi version). The USE ME system is an easy to learn/play rules set and the .pdf is only $5 USD 15mm.co.uk/UM008.htm |

Had a great game of fistful of lead at Legionary Exeter yesterday. Thanks to Don for running the show down. Never played wild west before, but my interest is now definitely piqued. The game had a real Hollywood feel to it. Loved it. |

Don't know about Tombstones n' Tumbleweeds being free, but it's definitely very inexpensive. I'm partial to it. (Although I might be a tad biased!) Here's the link to the online catalog: link Christopher B |
