The Omega man is the second movie adaptation of the novel "I am Legend". This one takes a somewhat different approach with the story and replaces vampire/zombie mutants with a post apocalyptic clan that hates technology.

This movie had a few quite good ideas, but oh my God does the soundtrack ruin the experience or what?!

Funky Beegees sounding music over EVERY scene where something happens, completely robbing it of any suspense, seriousness or post apocalyptic feeling. At least the main character had a better fortified hideout in this movie.

Many things you say are true, but my nostalgia meter pegs, and I still love the movie just the same.

Spawned a wonderful Simpsons parody, too. :)

Omega Man is one lousy movie that I continue to watch every decade or so because the camp/nostalgia/overacting Heston keep me entertained. You are right that a poor soundtrack can ruin an otherwise salvagable film.

Soylent green is people!

Oops, sorry, wrong movie. ;-)

This would be a cheesy 6/10 movie if the soundtrack was removed completely. The very first scene where Neville has a run in with the family outside of his hideout my jaw dropped at the music choice, would love to know what they were thinking when they were picking the soundtrack for this one. Acid or mushrooms must have been involved nonetheless.

The Simpsons parody for this movie is great though.

I agree that a new, more "serious" soundtrack would yield a better film.

I own it, and love it. Had a funky tone to it.
