The new Osprey/Ambush Alley Vietnam War supplement, Ambush Valley, includes information on taking the fighting into Laos and Cambodia.

Are you interested in gaming these theaters of war?

* yes – Cambodia only
* yes – Laos only
* yes – both
* not interested
* not interested in the Vietnam War

shelldrake21 Apr 2012 2:22 p.m. PST

yes – both. but I don't play Ambush Valley, so I would do my own research rather than buy the reprint(?) of the rules.

Whirlwind21 Apr 2012 2:30 p.m. PST

Yes, both. Used both countries for scenarios for RECON RPG, back in the day.

Yes, both for me. Just reading Ambush Valley.

Yes both. I already do SOG scenarios in Laos (could be Cambodia for that matter), but use FNG and FNG:Unconvential Warfare from Two Hour Wargames.

I have a pretty decent library on action "across the fence," so do my own research for scenarios.

As someone who's held a longstanding interest in the modern post-war histories of both countries my answer's a definite "yes".

No point excluding it from Vietnam gaming.

Detective Malone21 Apr 2012 4:43 p.m. PST

Yes – Both.
If someone would do a nice range of Khmer Rouge in 28mm, all the better.

yes, both

I would be interested in Laos. Not as much Cambodia. I would like the rules to be for my favorite rule system,Disposable Heroes ( for the Long Road South rule set). I would also like an air combat system that recreates the Ravens(observer pilots in Cessnas) evading ground fire, putting smoke on the targets and calling in air support (using Check your 6). My uncle flew in the Ravens unit, so I always wanted to game that scenario.

Both …

Grand Duke Natokina22 Apr 2012 2:24 p.m. PST

I would do both.

As a Nam gamer for 30 years I have would play games set in both countries. To me its all part and parcel of that big SE Asian war. Last year I ran a game set in Cambodia where the NVA unsuccessfully ambushed an Armoured Cav unit. Currently I am working on a Laotian scenario where the NVA are chasing a MACV-SOG team through the jungle towards their extraction point.

Yes, both. Kieth Nolan's books are great for info on the two different operations.

thatguy9623 Apr 2012 4:57 a.m. PST

Just to note, the information provided in Ambush Valley on Laos and Cambodia is more focused on helping players game the often forgotten internal conflicts in those countries, rather than on outside intervention or covert operations. Information is, of course, provided on both of those things as well though.

Psmith26 Apr 2012 3:20 p.m. PST

Yes – both. Very much so

Considering that the US Army occasionally really-did-accidentally cross the borders (in addition to the intentional border crossings), I can't see any major differences between Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
