Hi again,

We have been quite busy over the last week with both miniatures and real life.

To show for it we have now put up a finished Landwehr battalion using the perry french in great coat as a base. All our flags are from GMB and so are our flag finales

Nicely done. Did you consider the Warlord box?.

Hello,

I looked closely at the Warlord landwehr and I thought (and think) that the sculpting was bad. Furthermore it was a good solution to convert my own, and it is also cheaper in the long run. The only problem with it is that the great coats are a tad bit too long to pass as litewkas.

Don't worry about it. They look pretty good to me.

Lots of 'liberated' French greatcoats would have found their way into Prussian use.

Litewkas were generally dark blue.

To me you can't be to shabby when doing Landwehr, very nicely done.

Nice conversions – not really familiar with the Landwehr uniforms & equipment, but they look great! Dean

Good job. What are the other bits; heads, officer figure?

Very nice paint job but far too uniform in appearance to match the reality of a Landwehr battalion. I know flags look good but were not authorised and all were forbidden by September 1813 as explained in my book.

Hello,

Anders the younger is busy writing for his university history class so I'll will try to answer some questions.

The heads are a mix of the perry ones in field cap and french heads with converted shakos. We also added a lot of green stuff beards and mustaches.

He made the officer out of a perry french plastic head and a officer, sword from dragoon box, then greens stuff for the sash and left hand glove.

On the uniformity its not as uniform as it might look as both him and me don't like the idea of landwehr in pure blue litwekas. They carry a mix of backpacks from many different sources with a mix of blankets etc. there is also a mix of great coat colors.

On flags we looked it up and we read that they were suppose to be handed in during 1813 but we also read that according to some sources a lot of them weren't as there is a lack of notes from the arsenal records. So after discussing it he decided to make one battalion with the "regiment" flag and the rest without.

We both think that will help to bring some color to his "brigade" and also then we can make that unit recruit – elite according to the R2E rules.

We really like the response we are getting on this blog and looking forward to further discussion.

Regards,

Anders the elder.
