Hi guys, this should be an interesting project, let's see how quickly it will move along. It's the Polecat Armoured Light Utility Vehicle is 28mm scale. Just got the prints in and they are lovely.
This is the variant with the minigun/spotter turret. On the 28mm model you can really see the gatling gun barrels better.
And here it is with the heavy anti-material missiles. I had it made to 1/50th scale, under the assumption that it's better to look slightly too big than slightly too small compared to 28mm models. I'm used to 15mm vehicles so when I opened the box and this came out I said "holy !" Even though it's a small vehicle and meant to look so.
Ok, I will update this thread periodically once the next steps are taken. I'm working with a caster who works expeditiously through projects, and I have been in touch with a painter who does amazing work and seems to like the design, so I'm hoping this hops from rock to rock with little delay. Stay tuned, I'll update this thread. |

The 28mm missiles would actually look pretty good in the back of a number of 15mm flatbeds with an appropriate stand. |

Jon, you keep outdoing yourself. Now what about those JTFB troops? I'm DYIN' HE-AH!! Leland R. Erickson (
and just when I was trying to get away from resin (which I'm allergic to) and 28mm

Jon, you keep outdoing yourself. Now what about those JTFB troops? I'm DYIN' HE-AH!! Weren't we supposed to get those a couple weeks ago? And the Stikks a couple months ago? Keep reading "They'll be out next week." and then I get all excited like a kid with unlimited funds in a candy shop, set money aside for an order because I rarely spend more than $30 USD at a time before shipping
.and then never get to make it. |

I really like the way that looks, I will happily be purchasing one of these once they are available. Any chance of getting a photo of it next to a Large Battle Mech and Dropship/spacecraft? I have the Large battle mech which I use in 28mm, and I have been tempted to get the dropship/spacecraft for use in 28mm games as well. So a pic of all 3 next to each other would be super useful. |

Another pleased 28mm gamer. Release date? |
Lardie the Great | 10 Apr 2012 2:02 a.m. PST |
Looks good, need pics next to some figs and then
..we need to see the 28mm tracked superheavy tank and the wartruck
Great start and damned fast too |
tnjrp | 10 Apr 2012 2:17 a.m. PST |
Rather good. A lot of gribblies tho but then again, a lot of people want more gribblies rather than less so it makes sense to make it so. |
Lardie the Great | 10 Apr 2012 4:47 a.m. PST |
That would be the only criticism too much surface detail. Don't know how easy it would be to fix during the printing process. Otherwise leave it to the end user, personally I prefer a more blank canvas, but you'll never please everyone. |
Prince Rupert of the Rhine | 10 Apr 2012 4:49 a.m. PST |
oohhhh 28mm now I'm interested
.. |
khurasanminiatures | 10 Apr 2012 5:03 a.m. PST |
Lardie, didn't you say, when I previewed the 15mm version, It would be perfect in 28mm
please |
nvdoyle | 10 Apr 2012 5:13 a.m. PST |
Oh, man. My excuse for not spending money on Khurasan stuff is rapidly evaporating
|
dwartist | 10 Apr 2012 5:18 a.m. PST |
oh yeah! Surface detail will look fine under paint
|
Vosper | 10 Apr 2012 7:10 a.m. PST |
I think it looks great in 28mm, and could have a use for one, or two. |

Any chance of a Caiman in 28mm as well
.? |
Lardie the Great | 10 Apr 2012 10:54 a.m. PST |
Khurasan, yes but as said you'll never please everyone and you will see my cold hard virtual cash when they're released. I hadn't noticed all the "gribblies" as tnjrp called them when it was at 15mm, but I certainly don't think it's a deal breaker, still think it's a damn cool design and turned round in double quick time. I don't know a thing about the printing process or how much it would cost, but could a second prototype more slabby and less surface detail (roof, maybe sides from the doors back) be done? then do a quick vote, if the costs are too high no worries I'll still buy as is. Size looks good, by the way I know that was a concern. |
Ron W DuBray | 10 Apr 2012 11:17 a.m. PST |
What is the cost going to be so I can start saving money. I want 6 for my modern troops Maybe also a 50 cal mount??? |
khurasanminiatures | 11 Apr 2012 5:12 a.m. PST |
Good question, that is a new one to me, as I've never had a 28mm scale vehicle cast so I don't know what the cost will be. Although in many ways the Dictator is as large as a 28mm scale vehicle! |
Knockman | 11 Apr 2012 5:20 a.m. PST |
I'm obviously playing catch-up here, replied on the other thread before seeing this one. That ticks so many boxes on my 28mm Wants List, I'm well pleased :o) So I'm with Herr von Schwartzwolfe above – looking forward to a single unit price, a squadron (4-vehicle price) and if you can, any ideas on either shipping to UK or possible UK stockist? |
khurasanminiatures | 11 Apr 2012 5:29 a.m. PST |
Lardie, that's my midtech look. Futuristic shapes with lots of surface detail -- the look implying lots of tech additions but not Integrated into the shape yet. My TL15 type vehicles will be very smooth and futuristic, in fact one has already been designed and is being cast.
That's 15mm but if 28mm works out I will have this produced in the larger scale too, though it will be about 9" long! |
Lardie the Great | 11 Apr 2012 9:25 a.m. PST |
Khurasan, no worries about the surface detail, just a suggestion and I like your design logic, a bit like the HMMV went into Afghanistan quite smooth and has now turned into a monster with various add-ons! How big would the tracked superheavy be? my Tomorrow's war army is near future so mostly interested in the tracked and wheeled vehicles. I'm quite excited about your company dipping its toe into 28mm, partly for your designs but mostly because of the quality of the product. Any idea when an umdodified Polecat will be released, all being well? |
khurasanminiatures | 14 Apr 2012 8:00 a.m. PST |
Lardie, the Siler in 1/50th scale would have a hull 194mm long. (Nearly 8" long in imperial.) It would be a very large and rather expensive kit so I think I'll back into having that made in the big scale! If this little truck sells I'll probably have the Caiman made in 28mm next, then the Federal Medium Tank and Heavy APC. Those latter two both come in either tracked or early-tech grav modes (in my background early-tech grav gives you low hover only), and in 15 mil they will be released pretty soon. I'll see which of each sells better, tracked or grav, and then that's probably what I'll have made first in 28 mil. Back on the subject of the little truck, manufacture is progressing nicely, the caster has the piece and has provided a quote for casting, and I have paid for the castings. I'm getting 20 at first as I don't know what the sales volume is like in the 28mm non-40K SF market, but can probably get another 20-40 out of the mould before it is shot and has to be remade. He's told me that he can have me a resin casting probably within a week and I will post some pics of it, then send it to the painter, which I think will be the biggest hitch in the timeline because this is Salute season and top tier UK painters are quite busy around then! Next update will no doubt be the photos of the resin casting. |
Tim White | 14 Apr 2012 2:19 p.m. PST |
Man, this is amazing. And I thought I had *enough* 28mm stuff.. guess I was wrong! |
Lardie the Great | 15 Apr 2012 12:14 p.m. PST |
I would volunteer my painting services, I won the Ambush Alley Strikeforce fan vote with Kampfgruppe Steiner
..but I think you should probably wait for Dwartist or someone
.. still really interested in the tracked Siler and the AHI Rockjumper, etc |
Lardie the Great | 15 Apr 2012 3:20 p.m. PST |
Just to clarify, I'm not inferring I'm a top tier painter, not by along way! just re-read it and it seemed arrogant sorry. |

What kind of cash are we talking about? Folks are spending a pretty penny at ForgeWorld. Small companies generally have issues with production capacities with larger resin vehicles

Any up dates? projected price? |
Dentatus | 20 Apr 2012 6:55 a.m. PST |
Have no idea how I'd use a 1/50 Siler, (other than sheer menace and high cool-quotient) but I'm very keen on the Polecat. |
Lardie the Great | 20 Apr 2012 7:26 a.m. PST |
Denatus, you need more than menace and cool? |
Dentatus | 23 Apr 2012 11:30 a.m. PST |
Unfortunately, yes. My man-cave only has a 4' x 4' table, so a 1/50 Siler would end up as terrain. |
khurasanminiatures | 23 Apr 2012 1:36 p.m. PST |
If I ever were to release the Siler it would only be to top off the lighter vehicles in the federal army range -- which is everything. If anything, the next vehicle in 28mm will be the Caiman or perhaps the medium tank or heavy APC. |
Lardie the Great | 23 Apr 2012 3:13 p.m. PST |
Saw the 15mm Siler next to an Old Crow Claymore 8 wheeler at Salute and it looked to be roughly the same length, maybe twice as wide, but still very usable, please, please, pretty please |
dwartist | 23 Apr 2012 3:39 p.m. PST |
Caiman in 28mm would be a showstopper! |
BlackWidowPilot | 23 Apr 2012 8:42 p.m. PST |

and I have a degree in Psychology proving my dementia, so c'mon, dude!

A 28mm scale Caiman? – Yes please! The 15mm one is awesome and a 28mm one would be a new magnitude of AWESOME – it would definitely be a bestseller for you. |

The post today brought me the first casting of the Polecat, and it's absolutely splendid! I must say I'm extremely pleased.
Now it's off to dwartist and the model will go up for sale whenever he can slot it into his busy schedule! |

no pressure then? Looks fantastic
. |
khurasanminiatures | 12 May 2012 5:37 a.m. PST |
No, I don't have the production castings anyway, just this one for painting. |
Sumatran Rat Monkey | 12 May 2012 9:08 a.m. PST |
Oh dear gods, there's a possibility of a tracked Siler for 28mm one day? Even a slim one? You have no idea how much you've made my pulse (arms) race with those words! I'm really looking forward to the Polecat and suchlike in 28mm, and hoping it sells well, so we get more Khurasan vehicular (and fig
ular?) goodness, as well- being able to recreate the same army in 15mm and 28mm is a huge selling point for me. - Monk |
Lardie the Great | 12 May 2012 10:18 a.m. PST |
How much for the Polecat? and tracked Siler now please, just do a quick pole, even ask for deposits I'd in like a fast thing going really fast. Go on, you know you want to. |
Lion in the Stars | 12 May 2012 10:23 a.m. PST |
Shoot, I might even spring for a Polecat
It'd be terrain, my 28mm rules don't really have vehicle rules (Infinity), but it's so visually different than everything else on the market. That helps make my city seem more alive. |
khurasanminiatures | 21 May 2012 7:35 p.m. PST |
Update: resin casting sent out today to be painted. I still don't have the sales castings, but I hope to have them within a week or two. On another note, against my better judgement, I doubled down on 28mm sci fi vehicles today. More on that as it progresses. |
