So I have some US Rifles in Hunting shirts, painted green with yellow 'tassles'.

But I then have the officer, who is not dressed the same:

Should he be green jacket white trousers, or grey jacket and trousers???

This site has an extensive overview of the US Rifle Regiments

including a picture of an 1812 regiment office. But I have no knowledge of the veracity of the sources for the page.

Raphio,
These Knuckleduster riflemen are from 1814 (as noted by the circular shako plate – the earlier version had a diamond shape)
The 1st regiment wore the older green uniform so you could go that route with the white trousers or go with the 2nd-4th regiments which wore grey (officially; the uniforms did not arrive until October 1814 so until that time, they continued to wear the green huntingshirt with yellow fringe.) The 1st's officers however would be wearing the offical grey coatee with either grey or white trousers.

So you could use the officer figure for either unit: green coat for the First Regiment, grey for the Second/Third/Fourth

cheers!

I think I'm gonna go with Green jacket and white tousers.

For a 54mm diorama of the Lundy's Lane all-night slugfest,2 2nd Rifle Regt.officers served in Ripley's Brigade. And for good measure I included a 37 man rifle platoon.Enlisted in green hunting frocks, officers and sgts. in the gray jacket.
