Who is your favorite dwarf from Tolkien's works?

Durin – the shadow looming over all dwarves (assuming a dwarf is tall enough to have a looming shadow)

Azaghâl – guy stabbed Glaurung in the belly

Thorin – King Under the Mountain…for a moment
Balin – tried to retake Moria
Dwalin
Bifur
Bofur
Bombur – possibly fatter than Smaug
Dori – I played him in our high school musical of The Hobbit
Ori
Nori – contrary to the name, not made of seaweed!
Fili
Kili
Oin
Gloin
Gimli – only dwarf to go into the West

Dain Ironfoot – handy with an axe and knew the limits of Dwarf power

Someone else?

I likes mine raw!

SBminisguy04 Apr 2012 2:16 p.m. PST

Dain rocks!! But I do have a soft spot for Balin for dreaming the impossible dream…

Gimli… what's not to love about dwarves with elf fever?

what's not to love about dwarves with elf fever?

Once you go Noldor, all others seem colder.

Quadratus04 Apr 2012 3:08 p.m. PST

Dwarfs are not even second fiddle in Tolkien

It's elves this, and elves that. And I hated them ( insert Elves for Irish in this wonderful Belushi sketch)

that being said

I really liked Thorin (dying gloriously) & Balin ( Moria suicide run)

Dain was pretty cool in the back of the red book.

For some reason I named my D&D character Kili. and then I found out he and his brother croaked at the battle of 5 armies. I was miffed. :)

Space Monkey04 Apr 2012 3:36 p.m. PST

I was never able to tell them apart… so I'll just say Thorin.

Thorin oakenshield Because I played the part in the Tom Bean Tx. Jr. High Production of The Hobbit in 1980.
It was my finest moment.

Gimli. Barak khazad! Khazad a menu!

Landorl04 Apr 2012 5:41 p.m. PST

Balin or Dain. I liked Balin for being bold enough to try the impossible.

I liked Dain because he lead the Lonely Mountain from the desolation of Smaug back to a point of power. He also was pretty cool in the appendix to the LoTR.

Gimli!

Once more, Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!

I have to agree with Quadratas – Tolkien spends too much time jawing about girly elves!

Gimlet.

Azaghal. I mmean anyone who dresses from head to foot in iron just to have a chance to beat on the ultimate WMD, has to be cool.

Any of the dead ones.

religon05 Apr 2012 9:35 a.m. PST

Thorin. Rather a tragic character.

Huscarle05 Apr 2012 11:56 a.m. PST

Probably Thorin Oakenshield, a flawed hero.

Porkmann05 Apr 2012 12:17 p.m. PST

Bridgit the Midget. She is everyone's favourite little-person.

14Bore05 Apr 2012 4:22 p.m. PST

Said before, Gimli but only since the movies came out, before that they were just one of the other races. Always thought of myself as a Elf fan. Did get a Dwarf figure (first in 30 years) a year ago but haven't painted it yet.

SgtPain05 Apr 2012 6:06 p.m. PST

Another vote for Gimli!
