Just to clarify, it seems the only difference between the post from Matt on TMP and the PP forums is that the TMP forums put in some strange symbols everytime the post ment to put in a ' or a ". |

Wow... maybe we can finally put this to rest! Back to Trek Toys :P |

I pass by the Warmachine figures every time I visit the FLGS. Every time, I look at the figures and wonder if I should start yet another game. Today, after all the flap, I even went out to Privateer Press' website to look things over. You know what? I like the looks of the game. But I have better things to spend my money on. Not because the game isn't good (I don't have any idea whether it is or not). Not even because of Meiczyslaw's experience. Rather, because WM seems to inspire that same fanboy fanaticism that GW does. I left GW games for that reason; I think I'll avoid the WM fanatics for the same reason.

So anyway, back to Trek and Lego - I have two different versions of a 'Spock with a beard' action figure, one of them fairly recent. I also recently bought the Enterprise E model from Bandai that is prepainted (to a gorgeous standard) and includes a lighting kit so that all the windows, engines, sensors etc light up. Cool! I also have a Lego collection that includes over a 1000 minifigs and 70,000 pieces (why yes, I do have a spreadsheet with every set I own referenced on it. Why do you ask?) including both the pirate sets and the western sets with firing cannons! Kewl beanz! |
Meiczyslaw | 27 Jul 2004 1:55 p.m. PST |
For those of you who haven't read it, one of the things Matt was trying to do was be very clear about the company's approach -- I don't think he realized at the time that so much could be read into one of his statements (the 96% one). It also seems that he was suffering under a disadvantage, in that he had no knowledge of the flyer at the time of the Con. |

Visitor -- The odd symbols exist because Bill's site doesn't use smart quotes, and that's probably what got copied. |
Meiczyslaw | 27 Jul 2004 2:01 p.m. PST |
Bob -- You're insane, dude. Do you have sorting bins on the wall of your living room? ;) |
Franz Meriles | 27 Jul 2004 2:02 p.m. PST |
I stand by my original point....nod, smile and hope the opinionated person goes away. When a person has a grip reason never works. |
Gronan of Simmerya | 27 Jul 2004 2:12 p.m. PST |
Does the site use dumb quotes? At our last "Star Wars" RPG session somebody brought out a large collection of Lego SW figs - ashamed to admit how much fun it was using them. No, I'm not. If I had any shame I wouldn't admit to being a 49 year old man who plays with toy trains, tin soldiers, and has his own Jedi robes and lightsabre.

Meiczyslaw I'm curious, after reading about your wife's ire being raised by the infered derogatory use of femininity by PP, what did she do in response to the Republican Governor of California Schwarzenegger's reference to "girlie men" used as a derogatory term. Did she confront him, too? Or was that OK? I'm trying to find out what is acceptable and what's not. Because this seems to be an important issue with your family. |
Meiczyslaw | 27 Jul 2004 2:30 p.m. PST |
Given that he hasn't used the term since the one speech, I think she did just fine with Arnie. ;) Seriously -- Ahnold does bug her, but he's a somewhat special case because he does take direction. He'll say something stupid because he thinks it's funny, there will a complaint, and he won't do it again. If he was going around the state saying "girlie man girlie man girlie man," it would be more of an issue. |
Meiczyslaw | 27 Jul 2004 2:32 p.m. PST |
Gronan -- Lego are *great* for playing D&D. New weapon? No problem! New armor? No problem! Decapitated by a dragon? No problem! :) |

[don;t worry, I could care less about this website, or its message board after reading Bill's blatant sarcastic use of Play like you got a pair in his post.] I stand by what I said - I find it ironic that a few WarMachine fans prefer to whine anonymously on other forums, rather than talk to me mano a mano. (In the WarMachine vernacular...) :-) [He challenged PP to come out and prove the lying original poster wrong...] No, I didn't. [...and PP did.] No, they didn't. We have two versions of the incident. Each person will draw their own conclusions. But unless someone happens to have a video somewhere, no one has PROVED anything - it may be fundamentally unprovable. |
nazrat | 27 Jul 2004 3:46 p.m. PST |
Will this NEVER end?! These PP trolls keep showing up to add fuel to a fire that has been all but extinguished. Stop the madness, please!! |

" stand by what I said - I find it ironic that a few WarMachine fans prefer to whine anonymously on other forums, rather than talk to me mano a mano. (In the WarMachine vernacular...) :-)" ---------- So obviously you took the high road and handled it in a mature fashion - by setting up that ridiculous poll. Nice work. Do me a favor and cancel my memborship here. Seriously. I have been coming here for 2 years, but after this stupidity, and am done with it.
|
mweaver | 27 Jul 2004 4:56 p.m. PST |
What was ridiculous about the poll? Probably not very accurate, admittedly, but very few internet polls are, and this one certainly addressed a "popular" topic. |

And sorry to say this, Fishymike, but since you obviously lack the "pair" that you PP forum dudes are so attached to, good bye and good riddance! |
sasori | 27 Jul 2004 6:45 p.m. PST |
I'm just wondering what she plans to do to the employees and the children of the employees of Privateer Press at this point. "When she walked away from the conversation, she was swearing War on Privateer Press and their children." If she was a man that would be a mean and hateful thing to say. But she couldn't possibly be wrong for saying that because she's a woman, right? |
mikethefish | 27 Jul 2004 6:46 p.m. PST |
Good lord what a jerk. That solidifies it - I made the right decision. Outta here. |

Uh no, the appologiser is a press ganger, the other was from an employee. Pres gangers are volunteers. Employees are employees. He appologised that you where insulted, he appologised if you where treated poorly. You wife was treated just like she deserved. You go picking a fight, be prepared to fight. She picked it, you helped, you both lost that fight. Flame me, insult me, whatever ya like. you got PWNT!!!one11!. (I love that little saying btw :P) Interpret anything you want to any way ya like, you already did when this stupid fiasco was started, no reason to stop reinventing the truth now. /shrug Ok, for real, I am out of here, mods with agendas, liars and exagerattors are not my crowd. |

Mods with agendas? You mean Bill not telling him exaclty what he wanted to hear? Funny stuff. This is more drama than a freaking high school, and a lot less eloquence. I have heard 13 years old whine less than the collective crybabying of some people from both sides of this story. Sheesh. Spare us the drama please. |

Hey Bill, can I safely call him a muppet? - I doubt anyone from outside the UK will get that ;-) (in it's main context) |

It's funny-- a few (maybe a lot) of the guys who rushed to TMP from the Privateer Press Forums came here with huge chips on their shoulders, spoiling for a fight. This is not unlike their description of Meiczyslaw's wife in what will go down in the anals (sic) of history as the (Not So) Great PP Incident of 2004. And once they were here, these particular individuals started breaking the rules by swearing and making personal attacks against other posters. When they were rightly censured, they began crying and whining about it, and some (see above) went off stomping their little feet and vowing never to return. This is made more deliciously ironic by the fact that one of the things that ticks them off the most is TMP members using the phrase "...like you got a pair" or some variant of it, against them. And since it has been stated over and over by the PPF's that it is innocuous and not insulting to ANYONE, I can't imagine what the problem might be! By reacting in so juvenile a manner to what is mostly good natured ribbing, they have acted EXACTLY as the kind of gamer/person Privateer Press has said they DON'T want-- and I quote, "Wussies, Sissies, Little girls, Nancy boys..." Now don't get me wrong-- I LOVE Warmachine, and think Privateer Press is aces. And a whole BUNCH of the PP Forum guys came over here and acted like gentlemen and are fine fellows all around, I am sure. But these few bad apples hurt everyone's perceptions of an otherwise great game and community. But I STILL think it's REALLY funny... |

What I find amusing is the front page has this bit "First, there is the apology by The Grinning Wolf, who worked the booth at the show. "As an official rep for PP, I can say that all genders, races and ages are more than welcome to this awesome game and community that we are all so proud of!"" This is from TGW who is only a pressganger, a local fanboy(for lack of a better term) who demos the game in his area. He has less to do with PP as a whole then does Kev White ( who some 'supporters' of this website have bashed about his thread praising PP) But when Matt WIlson makes the official PP response to this trainwreck it only gets this "There is now also a posting from Matt Wilson, the PP Creative Director and the person who spoke with Meiczyslaw's wife at the show." That probably more then anything else is what has got most PP fanboys( strange isn't it that they are considered fanboys. Sorta like the pot calling the kettle black type thing. Isn't everyone here a 'fanboy' of once system or another. If that doesn't pass muster. Are we not [for the most part] men and Jishin{so she knows that she is recognized} who like to play with little toy soldiers?) in the uproar Now most who visit this website have a more historical leaning then say full metal fantasy. Now correct me if I'm wrong here but didn't every general/leader in history use big words like mayonaisse and write the written word without mistakes? Have any of you gone through most of the posts in this website? Calling the PP forums members, who came here to defend what they considered a slight, trolls is a misnomer. It should be applied to a large percentage of people who post here. Including a number of the people responding to this thread and the other threads about PP. |

What i want to know Meiczyslaw is why your wife speny all this time and energy worrying about "sexixt" phrases in Privateer Press advertising and yet had no problem attending a convention that approves of and facilitates the use of women as sex objects at the various displays/booths? Ive seen pics from the con. You had noted porn stars hawking at the booths and even a scantily clad female in a glass box on display. Kind of hypopcritical to attend such an "offensive" event as this is'nt it? OR did you boycott the con and confront the organizers on this issue as well? |
