Hi is 1.Empire still single rank basing because I've seen posts some where that seem to indicate otherwise. 2. Does it still support battalion skirmishers or have they been rationalise out. 3. What is Revolution and Empire? They have talking about it on the empire yahoo group. The concept of empire still intrigues me and would be willing to even consider rebasing some units to try. But only if it has retrained the skirmishers. Thye are important part of my napoleonic game experience. |

I'll try my best based on my regular play of Empire V. 1. Yes. If you expand the depth of your base then you need to expand the width. This is what I have done with my 6mm. I doubled the width and doubled the depth of all my basing and filled with 6mm figures.
2. Skirmisher companies are still a part. 3. Rev and Emp is a complete rewrite with more detail in some areas and less in others. I have tried R&E and went back to Empire V with a few good house rules. David wardepot.blogspot.com |

Thanks David. I'm always happy to see more photos of your marvelously painted 6mm figures. I enjoyed that series of reports from your Russian campaign very much, which is one of the reasons why I'm asking now about Empire. The only way to buy a copy is join the special forum, apart from pot luck on ebay, is that correct? |

Yes for now but I heard it may not be on that forum anymore so maybe contact Scott Bowden direct or ask on here as there is always such a large group willing to dis the rules, at least one must be willing to sell their copy! David wardepot.blogspot.com |

G'Day Gents I have a question in regards to basing. If a single figure for the French represents 60 men in 3 ranks, what does two figures deep represent for those who base their figures in such a manner? Historically a French close column (assaulting column) was either 9 ranks or 12 ranks deep, depending on the year. Therefore a close column is either 3 figures or 4 figures deep. Best Regards Art |

Nothing. Its simply an asthetic thing. |

Hi Art, the one man=60 ratio is for 15mm figures. David has double the amount of ranks, as alot of 6mm players do for the look, provide more substantial bases and because they can. :o) |

G'Day 'Max'
Best answer
"because they can"
In the 70s we used 25mm figures because it was cheap, and 15mm figures looked
hmmm
bad
said enough
Sometimes I wish I had 15mm figures
but I have at least 1,000 figures in 25mm
too late to change now. Best Regards Art |
