I recently attended a War and Conquest gaming event, you can find some more photos of my Macedonian Successors arrayed for battle on the blog: link

Lovely, especially the effect on Roman opponents. |

The victory against Roman was particularly satisfying, if the elephant was the hammer then the pike blocks were most definitely the anvil. Raglan |

I think your painting is fantasic LordRaglan, I particularly like the more subtle / realistic approach to the painting in terms of shading and highlighting, and is IMHO better than the extreme exaggerated / cartoonish painting that we often see nowadays. Great work and I'm glad to hear that you beat the Roman invaders. |

Jaw-dropping beautiful painting and basing. Just superb. Best, Dean |

IMHO ,some great looking figures and painting!!! I do have a question, where are the shields for the pikemen? Mike Adams |
| Lord Raglan | 29 Mar 2012 6:52 a.m. PST |
Well spotted Mike, I now have 13 Successor pikemen units, that range from 24 to 40 figures strong that belong to Ptolemaic and Seleucid armies. Before attaching the shields, I wanted to line all the units up from the respective armies and then decide what shield designs would offer the most artistically pleasing finish. Raglan |

Raglan; very nice indeed, who made those heavy companions? |
| Lord Raglan | 29 Mar 2012 8:49 a.m. PST |
Bob, If you are referring to cataphracts then it is Gripping Beast Miniatures. I also fielded some Thesalian heavy cavalry which contained A & A Companion riders with Aventine horses. I will post some photos over the next few days. Raglan |

Yeah that's them, they really catch eye! |

Bob, It would appear that many on the forum are not big fans of "Gripping Beast" Successor cavalry. I quite like them and currently have 10 Seleucid Agema Companions with half barding waiting for the brush treatment. Raglan |

Exellent stuff. Bsing is wonderful and really the bronze/gold colour armour on the Elephant. |

Raglan, I also have G.P. Sucessor cav. They look great, but you have to do some work to make the riders fit right! Mike |

Very impressive array – I do like the subdued paint work as noted above. Only have 6 phalanxes done as yet! Have yet to paint up my Gripping Beast Companions, Cataphracts and Personalities – but I think they will come up well. Garry |
