The Asterix books gave me my first insight into the classical world as a young 'un; they're full of little bits of classical learning in between scenes of Roman legionaries getting bonked on the head or used as golf clubs. What's your favourite entry in the history of the plucky little Gaul and his fat friend? Asterix the Gladiator for me, I think. |

Too many to name. They are a great series. When I was teaching, I couldn't find any decent representations of ancient Rome to show what the city looked like – so guess what I used? Yup, Asterix! |

Too many to choose from! I'd probably narrow it down to Astérix chez les Bretons (je dis! ), La Zizanie (Asterix and the Roman Agent), La Grande Traversée (Asterix and the Great Crossing) and Astérix chez les Belges (Brassica, brassica
) For worst, there's Le Ciel lui tombe sur la Tête. Despite the stuff in most of the Albert-Réné Editions books, like La Rose et le Glaive, this is by far the worst. |

I liked most of them, but if I had to choose, I would pick Asterix and the Normans. |

Asterix hasn't been the same since Goscinny died! So hard to choose
Asterix the Legionary, perhaps. "Look, once and for all, who's giving the commands?" "OLD HAIRY HANDS!" (Incientially, I'm a huge Tintin fan as well, my favourite being Tintin in Tibet). |

never heard of them before this pole. |

Asterix in Britain. (I guess there would be no point in wargaming Asterix, would there? No death, just a sound thrashing of those Imperial Romans! Where's the fun in that!) |

As a Brit, it has to be Asterix in Britain. Cup of hot water anyone? |

(I guess there would be no point in wargaming Asterix, would there? No death, just a sound thrashing of those Imperial Romans! Where's the fun in that!) Oddly, I've often thought Gaming Asterix was the perfect expression of DBA/DBM: One Gaulish villager per element, vs a Roman contubernium/century per element.,,

Great diorama. Shame the figures aren't more animated in a fighting stance – there could have been trouble ahead! |

I've read a few, but it's been years since I did. At the mo they kind of run into one glorious mess of magic potion and crazy romans in my head, so I'd have to agree with Andrew Beasley. I do vaguely remember some great farce in Asterix the Legionary, though. Great diorama, too. :) I remember the time some odd packs of Asterix minis were on sale in Forbidden Planet, but they were out by the time I got there. Cleopatra, and in Britain. Liked TinTin equally. The Crab with the Golden Claws and in Tibet. |

I haven't read all of them, but so far Cleopatra and Legionary are my fav. I've seen an odd pack or two of Asterix minis many years ago in a FLGS, but I wasn't that heavily into miniatures at the time. Now I wish someone would re-release them. |
Ancestral Hamster | 21 Mar 2012 7:45 p.m. PST |
Asterix the Legionary with Cleopatra in second. Have more Tintin though, and I did enjoy those too. |

Yes Asterix in Britain – the wonderful story of how Asterix gave the British Tea
.thus allowing us to go forth and create an Empire whose language and political philosophies will serve a free mankind for eternity wherever our descendants will roam around the universe
And then there's the cricket
