Re: Release date ?

Things are steadily moving along with these chaps, but I don't have a firm date just yet. I know you guys have been extremely patient with us on these, but they shouldn't be too much longer. We are hoping to get some firm dates for you some time after Salute. All the rest of the package is coming together though – artwork has been completed, box design is going to be next, as well as a relaunch of our Knights – there will be 15 in a box (making use of those spare torsos) at a discounted rate on the normal box plus horse sprue. We have also started revisiting our research for the next box set after the Infantry.

We will also have some metal crossbowmen out ready for Salute and we will be starting work on our next metal 'fun' set to go along with the Monks and Nuns in a few weeks time.

Things have been a little slow recently, but it looks like they will be picking up a fair bit over the next few months.

Thanks for the update. I want some foot to go with my Conquest Norman mounted but I am in no rush so I'll wait and see what Conquest brings out.

There is now an update about the plastic Norman infantry on the Conquest website:

Apparently they might get released during the coming summer.

Got an e-mail from them a couple of days ago. They say they are looking for a July release.

Griefbringer04 Jun 2012 3:22 a.m. PST

According to the most recent update on their forum:

The estimated release date is end of July and the box contents are estimated as 44 models and 2 casualties.

Man this is sounding like a good set. Once this is released it should almost be feasible to do Hastings all in 28mm plastics. Thats still one of my :must do" battles in 28mm.

40 x Infantry – 8 chain, 8 padded, 24 leather/cloth
4 x Command – 2 chain, 2 leather/cloth
2 x Casualties –
There are 7 different heads
There are 2 banners and 2 horns (different to cavalry ones)

Once this is released it should almost be feasible to do Hastings all in 28mm plastics.

Missile troops for the Normans would require some work though – as mentioned, this new set will only come with spears, swords and axes for the armament.

I will be saving my judgement until seeing actual sprues, but if they look promising I will seriously consider getting a set or two.

Why does it seem so hard for companies in this hobby to get human proportions right? Most of GB's more recent output (including the plastics) has been of the hobbv standard vertically-compressed style with foreshortened limbs and oversized heads and hands, and now they do Normans with… undersized heads (the infantry; the cavalry depicted above look about right) – so they won't match any of their existing figures! It makes no sense from any perspective.
