Time for a Greatcoats update. Here is a picture of all the prints we needed for casting. I still need to go over these and make sure they are up to standards but it gives a complete picture of what we're dealing with.
Hoping to have these to the caster in a few weeks.

Nice! Are these going to be plastic? Metal? Resin? |
Cyclops | 15 Mar 2012 9:37 a.m. PST |
Um, what are these? Plastic? Resin? I've never heard of these before. Edit: didn't see jpattern2's post. But I've noticed that many manufacturers in all periods will make posts like this, assuming everyone knows exactly what they're on about. Most of us don't. I've even been to the blog and I'm still none the wiser as to what these are to be made out of. Lovely models though. |

I apologize, I had another thread going but I started a new one and I forgot to explain things here. The picture shows all the 3D prints we had made from digital sculpts. These will be sent to the caster and they will be cast in metal. There will be enough parts in the final product to build a 10 man squad, with arm options for a Sgt. and a couple alternative weapons. We are planning on having 15 heads included, 5 of each variant. |

Like the wide variety of heads . These are very nice . I see them being used for tomorrows War . On a side note you should make a made robot for 28mm figures too . |

Yeah, it seems people expect some kind of robot figure, given the name. Makes sense I guess. By the way, you can see better pictures of everything on my blog Or here: TMP link |

Make them in 15mm please! (well, as single piece minis). I really want some greatcoated sci-fir grunts to send over the top, can't seem to find them anywhere! I'm even contemplating buying russians and trying to convert them. Nightmare. |

15mm might happen, I have thought about it. |

Uhhh. I think I note a problem with the drum magazines. They taper in thickness at an angle with the back being the thinnest and front being the thickest don't they? If that is in fact what I'm seeing
that's wrong. Drum magazines are always the other way around as they sort of fit with the tapering of the bullet. I noticed that Chapter House studios did the same thing with their SCAR Autoguns for IG figures
I had to chop and switch those before I used them. Metal, we wouldn't be able to do that too so readily.

@Wolfprophet: I think what you're seeing is an off angle in the picture. The drum magazines on these models aren't tapered. I do admire your attention to detail! |
Wolfprophet | 15 Mar 2012 4:50 p.m. PST |
Your right. Looking closer now, I was tricked a little by the shadows. It's easier to see that they're not tapered looking at the one in the lower left corner and the one above the bottom row. I focused on the other two before which did look tapered. No big deal then. Lots of drum mags that are equal on both ends, most currently made examples being for support level machine-guns(Such as the RPD and the FN MAG). It's just looks really off when someone *cough*chapterhouse*cough* puts the drum on backwards since in reality, it wouldn't fit the magazine well, nor would the bullets be feeding in the correct direction. ;) Question though. What are the two weapons near the top? One looks like a hand flamer I imagine. The other
. A drop-in or other single shot grenade launcher perhaps? I bet these would do well in 15mm. I was just thinking and realized that the only 15mm Greatcoated infantry out there now are for ball and musket era wars, WWI and WWII. |

You are correct on the weapons. The flamer pictured is broken, there should be a small part coming back over the grip. I have considered doing these in 15mm, once I can get these to market and hopefully get some sales I will address that. As for the details
that's why I post things here. I never would have guessed about the different tapers of drum mags. |

out of curiosity, why bring out something that already has quite a few variants out there already? – and just following the GW look? After your other releases this seems a big step backwards – not a criticism of the quality, just the subject matter. |
SABOURO | 17 Mar 2012 12:36 p.m. PST |
Very good work you made when you plan to release the Haroock Droopship in 28mm and the Allien whith 4 hands is something different to the usual bad sci-fi suspects. Also your miniatures is in true 28mm or heroic scale? |
nothing | 17 Mar 2012 1:57 p.m. PST |
@Sabouro: I don't have an exact date on the Harook Dropship, hopefully in the late spring. The Auslanders are still very WIP and I can't say for sure when they'll be made. I consider that a long-term project right now. Our 28mm figures fall somewhere between true 28 and heroic. Here's a picture for comparison:
The final release will stand a few milimeters shorter than what's in the picture. |

Oh, those are nice! I don't really need 10, but I might buy a set to use as PanO Svalarheima (cold-world) troopers. I'd love to have some kind of cold-weather hat option, that doesn't look like the classic Russian fur hat. Hint, hint
