Hi, can somebody help me? I really want to collect Austro-Hungarian army for VSF in period 1980-1900, but could not find what uniform was used in this era between Austo-Prussian war white and WW1 blush grey uniforms?
Hope you'll help.

Try "Das k.u.k. Heer im Jahre 1895", Eine Bildserie von Oskar Brüch, kommentiert von Günther Dirrheimer. Published by Leopold Stocker Verlag, ISBN 3-7020-0783-0. Oberleutnant Brüch painted 34 pictures of the Austrian-Hungarian Army of 1895 and Dirrheimer gives an extensive explanation. I bought my book in Vienna at the Heeresgeschichtlichen Museum (Army Museum) a couple of years ago. Probably much more than you need, but a fascinating book ! IIRC price was something like GBP 20.00 or so. Surely not expensive or I would not have bought it…

…Hmm, a time-travelling army?

The NYPL's Vinkhuijzen collection has a lot of images for this period. link

I found that they use this blue uniform in late 19 century, after white uniform of Austro-Prussian War.

Uniform from 1878. Cant find anything like this in 15mm

But my 15mm VSF period is 1880-1900, and Austrian uniform of this era was this

The hat and some details are very close to their WW1 uniform, so for my 15mm VSF I am going to use Peter Pig WW1 Ausrtians and convert them :)

Here are Peter Pig WW1 Austians. It wont be hard to convert 15mm figs.

Have a look through these two metal producers, they might have what you need in 15mm:

I have never been able to link to Lancashire site even to this day. Are they in business?

Yes, Lancashire are still in business and have the last week of their sale on now.
Maybe try Unblock.

Have you looked at Minifigs 15mm WWI Austrians. I have an army of them. Also very good.

The Tin Soldier 1895 Italians in Abyssinia look like the fellows on Crete.

Many years ago (1988) I remember in the wargames shop in Brisbane there was a big picture book on the Austro-Hungarian army 1867-1913 (ish). I was bemused at the time (being a teenager) thinking that was the period between two very important dates when they did nothing. I saw (much) later how wrong I was.

Sadly I can't remember the proper title or author.

I thought it might be by Lucas.

FIGHTING TROOPS OF THE AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN ARMY 1868-1914

The Romanians 1878 from Rank & File (now Old Glory)look very close to your fellows in the Blue coats. (I was going to use them as Ruatanians or Gaustark.)

They have the small shako with pom-pom and trousers.
