Hello all. Just wanted to touch base and give a shout out to Black Tree Designs, USA. I have heard many comments about Black Tree
poor service, quality, ect. I was a bit gun shy but Black Tree carries wonderful colonial goodies so I went ahead and placed a small order. Order placed Monday, got my artillery Thursday and received order confirmation, tracking and a thank you card in my order
nice touch. I believe this is a new US agent and all I can say is
Well Done. Do not hesitate to order
will be placing another order very soon. Thanks for the referral JJ! |

I've had very good service from them recently. Done about 5 orders with them in the last 6 months. Orders came quickly, good communications I'll order again from them. |

Maybe I will stick with thier EIR and finish with them. I have 20 and have been hesitant to do anymore due to all the bad press
looking for a replacement company has been hard. |

I have a problem with their random WWII packs. 28 poses but four random figures? For example, I would love to have Germans with captured PPSh's but cannot be assured to get them due to the random SMG packs! I emailed BTD USA about selecting certain poses/weapons but have heard nothing. I'm tossing all my Crusader WWII figs in the trash, literally, and would love to replace them with BTD. I have a potentially huge order waiting that probably won't be filled due to the widely random packaging of riflemen and SMGs. :-( |

What's wrong with the Crusader WWII Germans? I rather like Mark's sculpting for ancients
I picked up a pack of WWII BTD Germans some time ago, and won't order any more. All of the figures I received lacked breadbags. THis might seem like a trivial ideal, but it is a prominent item of their gear, and a very distinctly German piece of kit. Other figures in the range might have them, but my samples were a real turn off

CPBelt, "I'm tossing all my Crusader WWII figs in the trash, literally" if true, PLEASE toss them my way. Sent me an email, we can make some kind of deal. petecam@verizon.net PLEASE! Thanks, Peter |

No, they were cast like crap, with major mould slippage. Long story involving lots of emails back and forth across the ocean this week. I shouldn't have mentioned it. Just a bit ed off this morning. I should have inspected them better when I got them last year from Old Glory and handled it with them instead. I'll probably take some heat for bringing this up and wind up looking the fool, as usual. As for the bread basket, I didn't realize that. My assumption would be that these were not the Nick Collier sculpts because he was a stickler for detail. The drive-by sculptors that came after him are very spotty. I can see this difference in my Soviets, especially the faces. The random packs is also a problem because the lousy sculpts are tossed in with the Collier sculpts. (I hope my memory serves me that Nick Collier sculpted them!) |

You are correct, sir, and those that he did are all beautiful models! |

I ordered some Late Romans for myself at Christmas and they arrived quickly. I too had been apprehensive about BTD's reputation but that put my mind at ease. |

CPBelt, I've just read your Blog which I stumbled across while doing some research on my Soviet BlackTree figures. I would agree that the platoon packs are a nightmare as I got two guys carrying Hmg ammo cans but no Hmg is in the set! lots of prone figures and some doubtful figures who seem to be holding their rifles like they are spears? which are assume are from the newer sculptors. I've been ordering from Black Tree for a few years and have never had an issue with them. They even answered an email and supplied me with some US AT gun crews without the guns, but that was the old UK supplier. I hope we can select the figures we want in the future but suspect its a way of getting rid of excess figures. |

I have had no complaints with the three orders I've place with BTD lately. Communication on when and what was being shipped was fairly fast. Back orders where minimal. As to the issue of multiples of the same pose when ordering, ask for as wide a variety as possible in the notes section and they are very accommodating. In fact I asked for Assault rifle armed Germans in the Squad pack (instead of rifles) and they handled it just fine. I had some trepidation based on post here but they have been unfounded by me. |
