Seeing as how we just had the poll about Twilight 2000, and we are a Miniatures Page, it seemed to be a question to ask.. - Yes - No - No Interest |

why not? it would work with Force on Force or any of a number of existing systems. |
Cherno | 08 Mar 2012 6:32 p.m. PST |
Isn't this game supposed to be played in miniature? After all, there were packs of 15mm (?) vehicles etc. |
mad monkey 1 | 08 Mar 2012 6:34 p.m. PST |
I did it in pen and paper. Faster. |

The Twilight 2000 miniatures were 20mm, and were, like some other specialized almost-historical lines, designed to augment existing merely-historical lines. T2k is one of those games that sometimes calls for miniatures, and sometimes does not. Would I play out some fights with minis? Sure. Every time? No. The setting was meant to take away that all-knowing high command feel, so a grand tactical board goes against the grain to some extent. |

No more than I use minis for any RPG I play. If I ever play a game where any two minis are the same scale/system/manufacturer I think the world will implode. |

Wasn't one of the Segregation Era supplement for Beamstrike intended for that? |
Tom Reed | 08 Mar 2012 9:12 p.m. PST |

We played out the battles using 1/72 plastics. |

Perfect setting for a linked-skirmish campaign system in the 'Two Hour Wargames' vein, with elements of character development and squad management between battles. |

never read nor played it, seen it mentioned a lot. sounsd like, to me anyway, a bit naff for roleplay but the ideas would be good for wargaming – but until Iread more on it I can't say – but, if it is some kind of www3 thingy, yeh I'd play it miniature using 1:72nd or 15mm. |

Should be pretty easy to do TW2000 scenarios with Force on Force. I kinda like the idea of using rag tag units and whathave you. |

Wasn't the "First Battle/Last Battle" system released by GDW to allow people to play out tactical engagements in their Twilight 2000, Merc: 2000 campaigns with a sleeker system than the actual roleplaying combat rules, yet meaningfully compatible with them? To simulate larger battles where the playing characters got involved. |
Dynaman8789 | 09 Mar 2012 4:49 a.m. PST |
> Wasn't the "First Battle/Last Battle" Last Battle was, First Battle was the wargame line (Team Yankee to Blood and Thunder). The main problem with Last Battle was the rules were a mess, decent game in there after digging through the poorly worded rules with holes you could drive an 18 wheeler through. |

I would now, back when I was playing it regularly we didn't. But I plead being in the Navy then

I would game the setting (and have some 6mm stuff for that end), but not use the rules. |

If I were to re-visit it, I'd use either Ambush Alley (Force on Force/TW/etc) or FUBAR for when I wanted to stage big tabletop skirmishes, or for the quick character interactions and stand-up fights I'd just use the RPG system – or possibly an adapted version of the Heresy RPG Game Engine thing, which is quite handy. |

Have done it. Great excuse to paint and convert unique figures. Back in the day, I had a gang of ESCI zulus converted with Ak-47s and M16s from Esci Spetnez and Esci US Vietnam troops. The US Vietnam troops worked well with just minor paint conversions. |
