Wow, a schedule and everything. Our group has a hard time figuring out what we are going to play the night we all show up let alone weeks in advance. I'm impressed! |

So you guys are meeting every Thursday? I couldnt make the former incarnation as it was every other Thursday, and I was off the opposite. |

Todd636 – The schedule grew out of the success of a couple games. I first tried to generate interest in starting a purely historical club but I only could get a couple to people to attend and then got pressure from the wife so I scaled back to every other Thursday as Skinkmasterreturns indicated. In order to have an opponent, I moved away from historical for a couple months and played War of the Ring. Eventually my son and I stumbled across All Things Zombie rules so we convinced our War of the Ring opponents to give them a try and they liked them so we started doing that every other Thursday. As some of the WH40K gamers who come to the shop started to look on I was able to get them to join in. Soon my ATZ mini-drop-in-when-you-can-campaign grew from 3 players to over 15 periodic players. My wife soon relented, thanks to my son lobbying on my behalf and we began every Thursday again. This back in September. Getting bored with running the same game every week, I introduced Gutshot old West gaming rules and this was also a success with the 40K crowd so we began alternating Thursdays between Zombies and Cowboys. Eventually one of the other players wanted to try Gladiator rules which I was thrilled with since it indicated an expanding interest driven by someone other than me. That has also gained a following. Finally, I got my hands on a set of Waterloo rules from Warhammer-Historical and was able to get about 6 of the now semi-regular former fantasy gamers to have a go. It was a success and they want to try other periods as well now. The club is still precarious but it is building gradually. The guy who built the website has really been an asset in helping me to generate interest and is now a driving force behind getting other periods on the table. Which leads me back to the schedule. Out of necessity to keep the gamers coming back (since most aren't hard-corp gamers yet) I need to ensure they know when their personal interest is going to played. And as I run most of the games, it helps me to keep organized. Our intent is to eventually get other committed gamers running other games on the same nights as the scheduled games so people have a couple of games to chose from and hopefully build a greater diversity of interests. Our venue is okay, but our hosts (Wings Wheels & Waves of Massillon Ohio) couldn't be nicer. They run a nice shop and are willing to order what they can if there is something you need. They also have a shop in Alliance, Ohio as well. The venue could be better if the downstairs room, which has lots of space, were open to us but its unfortunately filled with screaming stinky pokeman players on the same night. (a couple of the more level headed youngsters are migrating to our games so there's hope for them) But until the club is better attended we have to do with 2 8x4 gaming tables in the main section of the shop. As it stands now, on an average night we have 6 to 8 players with the highest number in a single game being 16. All we need are more historical gamers that are willing to run additional games and are willing to teach new players. Please drop in if you can. |

I would be interested in participating, but here again I can only do so often,as I have my family obligations.I would be happy to run stuff. I'm running a game Saturday down here at the public library of Black Powder American Rev,as my own collection of finished figures has reached 1000,and I can field 5 brigades a side.My 15mm ACW is of similar size.I can also do War of 1812,but not quite so large. I always wanted to participate in the Historical games, but here again, the nights they were held were always my work night. |

Please come up when ever you can. My problem is that weekends are family time and unless I want to have my wife in a constant state of resentment towards me, they will remain that way. I've created a facebook page as well which we'll post which historical game we're going to do on the night. Please look at the schedule in the downloads sections for the dates we'll be doing some historical that is not wild west or gladiators. |

I wanted to come tonight but don't think I can now (that may change). If I can't I will be over next Thursday for sure. :-) Great to know there are other Historical gamers not too far from me at last. I moved here (Wooster) from the UK last year and have been on the lookout for a club. |

Well,if youre not busy tomorrow(Saturday) and want to game, come on over to the Dover Public Library at 12n.I'm running an American Rev game of Black Powder,in 15mm with 5 brigades, and theres 3 of us playing. We will be playing in the basement meeting room till 430 or so,and then packing up,out by 5,because the library ladies chomp at the bit if not out on time. The library is at the corner of Walnut and 6th in Dover, not far from the I-77 Dover exit.I think if you'd come from Wooster, you'd take 250E to 21S,then to 77 South.Anyway,if youre interested, come on over! |

We tend to hid in the wood work like termites. This Thursday at the Massillon Area Wargames Club we will be running an All Things Zombie game. We are still working out the details of the scenario but we are leaning towards a food gathering/saving scenario. As the survivors in this post-zombie apocalyptic like their food fresh and are not vegan, things tend to get a bit complicated, even with out zeds trying to munch anything they can get their hands on. Hope to see you there. |
