They sent me an army (a big one) free so I would run some promo events! I LOVE it! |
| Mithmee | 06 Mar 2012 5:45 p.m. PST |
There is a catch here because GW does nothing for free. |

Damn. Smokey they're getting you hooked on the crack and then getting you to push for them too! Your soul. It is gone. Now get it painted and show some pictures! |

they make fine cast from souls like yours

| Smokey Roan | 06 Mar 2012 6:43 p.m. PST |
Hey. I have sold my soul so many times, the Devil will need a sympathetic President to executively circumvent bankruptcy/creditor laws! :) Mostly the claimants for the rights to my soul will be chubby blondes with fat asses and big . I have no regrets. :) |

Sadly, more people than you have rec'd free armies by calling up and abusing the heck out of GW's liberal customer service policy and saying "I didn't get xyz part on the sprue of my battleforce" and GW dutifully sending out an entire box since they can't send just the one piece or sprue. Man that kind of crap always got me angry as all get out. All criticism aside, I detest people taking advantage of companies customer service and stealing that way. On a side note, yes, your soul will indeed be turned into Finecast resin. That's why there are so many bubbles
.non-virgins souls being used to cast with. |

That's just wrong, Smokey

Smokey, did you sign any documents with your blood lately? |
| 15mm and 28mm Fanatik | 06 Mar 2012 7:30 p.m. PST |
Smoky, On behalf of Games Workshop I thank you for demo-ing this game to draw in a new generation of loyal customers. This 'free' army is a small price to pay for the service you will be providing to the Games Workshop hobby. |

So, if it's not imperialis confidentialis or anything
what army did they send you? If you aren't allowed to say, I understand (psst, guys, here comes the sixth edition leak! get a bucket) Since you said "it's a big one", i'm guessing it is marines or orcs. Grey Knights and Eldar are unlikely for their low model count. Necrons would also have been a good choice. Tyranids are right out ;) So?? |
| john lacour | 06 Mar 2012 7:53 p.m. PST |
well, thats gw's problem with the "giveing away stuff". i bought a blood bowl treeman and the arm was miss cast. i called to get a replacment arm. they could'nt give me the arm, they gave me a replacement treeman. now i have a whole piece, and i still have one with a deformed arm. i am no good with green stuff, so i'm stuck with that. they should go back to having bitz. if gw is so rich they can do this stupid stuff, oh well
|
| Smokey Roan | 06 Mar 2012 8:57 p.m. PST |
LOL! I cannot say (really, they made me sign a waiver) I'm surprised no one has asked me about the fat girls. Now THERE is a story. I'll tell you tales that will make you vomit! |

And here was I so sure that Finecast was actually made of diamonds and cocaine. After all, that's the only reason they can possibly switch to a cheaper material but have it somehow cost 20% more

I've been given 4 complete GW armies in the last 12 months (IG,'Nids, Orcs and Beastmen) – plus just bought a shedload of figures in a bulk deal for £100.00 GBP that contains a 100 figure strong late 80's chaos army – all metal and long oop, 2 lizardmen armies – WHFB 4th ed ones and the newer ones, a large chunk of a combined Bretonnian/Empire army (plus loads of other stuff). None of which have I had to give GW a penny for as for fat girls – bluurgh – some curves yes, but over size 16 (UK sizes)? no thanks – and I wish they'd not wear tight clothes – I do not want to see the michelin man walking round all the time – bluuuurgh |

Fat bottom girls you make the rock'n world go round! GW who? |
| billthecat | 07 Mar 2012 10:24 a.m. PST |
They made you sign something
.? hmmm
. Are you bound to run these promo events under some sort of legal obligation? IF so, the miniatures were NOT free. I would take the goods and run demo games of a different game system, if possible
mixing in lots of models from other companies
. :) In any case, have fun! Although I also wou;d have insisted that the miniatures be pre-painted by GW
(or at least assembled and primered
) |

SR:"All right, folks
step right up and learn the most pop-u-lar miniatures game available! It's got a 25 year history, and I'm here to demo it for you!" LT (Little Timmy): "Gosh, Mister, those little armored men sure do look swell! What are they called?!" SR: "Sorry, kid, I can't tell you
confidentiality agreement." Best Demo Ever. |

BLOODY HELL, You've been given 4 free armies, by GW? How many demos have you agreed to run? Methinks perhaps I should contact the 'Evil Empire' and offer my services! |
| wehrmacht | 07 Mar 2012 1:34 p.m. PST |
I think Alien meant he was given free armies by his friends/enemies, not by GW. As commented earlier, they do nothing for free. w. |
| MacrossMartin | 08 Mar 2012 6:11 a.m. PST |
Smokey, are you trying to tell us, (without actually telling us,) that GW sent you an army of fat chicks? |

"Sister Mary Repentia
Did you see that Gators fan at the Wal-Mart? I bet if you bought him a case of Coors he'd confess his heresy

yeh not from GW – from people who stopped collecting GW or decided they wanted out of those particular armies. Gave away nearly half the orc n goblin army – which gave my mate a good starter army! Nids went to my little bro. I kept the beastmen and am looking to sell the IG army. the other stuff I bought recently cost a £100.00 GBP – part of the deal is a lot of the plastics are being donated to a worthy cause. My dad cherry picked what he wanted for his Bretonnians – conservative estimated value £200.00 GBP+.GBP The other stuff, probably £100.00 GBP-200GBP+,and the old school 80's chaos dwarves etc – if I got lucky on ebay, potentially a small fortune were I to sell them. One of those right place right time deals. Even told the people selling it that they were worth more and if ebayed could get a lot of money – but they were happy with £100.00 GBP – they also chucked in around 40-50 paints – GW and Vallejo. Blew my years gaming budget mind you :-( Salute will now be a tad boring in some ways. |

Got my stuff, all sorts of Ork packs, codex, and goodies. GW heard I wanted to run some games in my new town, offered a 40k army since I have never done that, and I said "sure, I'll paint them up and take on all comers, and make it a 40k demo day. I thought it would be fun to include a few painting, terrain making classes as well, but didn't want GW to feel obligated to send a bunch of paint and supplies, (thus making the classes "Official GW tarrain and paint products line demos"). Rather, they will be "Smokey's techniques for making stuff, using all sorts of products and scrap items" Anyhoo, great guys at GW. I will earn that Ork army |
