"The game that emerged is Assassin's Creed III. Set in the latter half of the 18th century, we'll see the war between the Templars and the Assassins escalate as it crosses over to the New World of America, and witness firsthand the events of the American Revolution…"

Wonder to know if games like this one could be useful to pick up some ideas for wargames at the AIW.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

NO!!!

MajorB05 Mar 2012 3:01 a.m. PST

Definitely not.

number405 Mar 2012 12:34 p.m. PST

Reminds me of the nut job 'militia' and 'mountain men' types that show up at reenactments from time to time. One of my favorites was the "Indian scout" in buckskins and war bonnet who wondered why we wouldn't let him take part…..

Bandolier05 Mar 2012 2:50 p.m. PST

About as helpful as '300' was to ancient gamers.

Thomas Mante05 Mar 2012 4:12 p.m. PST

Oh my what nonsense!

Supercilius Maximus06 Mar 2012 4:36 a.m. PST

Surely only the evil British/George III* would do anything so dastardly as to hire assassins?

(Or "the despicable tyrant King George" to give him his full title.)

That looks incredibly dumb.

This is one "benefit" to having things sorted into pariod specific Boards.
I would never have clicked on this where it not for the fact that it was in the American Revolution Board.

I was going to ask "Why is this on the American Revolution Board"?
Now, sadly, I know why.

No John, this is an insult to DUMB!!!

I hope that's not a DH offense.

This must have been designed by Mel Gibson , judging from the trailer that I saw.

Could be fun in an Imagi-Native setting.

It seems that, as the period played gets nearer to the end of the 18th C. wargamers are more and more similar to Napoleonics…

A bit harsh, there, guys. I agree, not particularly useful as inspiration for AWI but it works for its intended audience, an audience that dwarfs our hobby. So, Tango, I wouldn't look to it for inspiration but you might enjoy it as a game. We are all talking about games – and they don't need to be taken so seriously.

Ironwolf11 Mar 2012 9:52 p.m. PST

I just read an article on the story line of the game. Seems Charles Lee and George Washington play a part in the main characters quests.

I have not play'd any of the Assissins Creed games. But since this one is set during 1753 – 1783 I'll play it. The part that drew my interest the most was being able to explore historical locations with in the game. Yet not playing any of these games before I'm not sure if its free range or quest specific terrian??

Isn't 90% of this guys posts pure nonsense anyway??

Which 'boy', please?
I'm grateful to Armand for the links he posts, most of them I enjoy to peruse and many of them I'd never discovered without him. Keep the good and obliging work, Armand!

Then, given the Napoleonic-like tone of most of the comments, I have another reason to *never* visit the AWI board grin

Old Contemptibles22 Mar 2012 3:47 p.m. PST

Absolutely not! Whoever is responsible for this should be flogged.

Old Contemptibles22 Mar 2012 3:56 p.m. PST

John is right about this being a benefit to period boards. It's the rules specific boards that I object to.

Detective Malone11 Apr 2012 1:18 p.m. PST

Sorry for the threadromancy.
But this video might provide some more ideas for those inspired by the upcoming Assasin's Creed game to do the AWI.

You should see the screenshots of the British uniforms!

Infuriating for die-hard 'historicals', but potentially inspirational for skirmish games / 'Gloire' campaigns… not to speak of Lacepulp / Lacepunk ones.

Detective Malone16 Apr 2012 4:32 p.m. PST

As if the term Lacepunk wasn't bad enough, but to then go and get inspiration from this game! *shakes fist*

spontoon17 Apr 2012 2:37 p.m. PST

Puerile!
